cleeves14 Here is some pictures I took a couple days ago

cleeves14 Dipped my wheels two weeks after I bought my 14 Unlimited. Thought the silver wheels looked more street while the dipped wheels kind of made it more trail aggressive looking. Plus I gots no money and It was the cheapest way to make it look different. Ill post pictures soon.

Does need some touch ups here and there.

Never done it before, and it seems pretty painless. I did this while wheels were on the car, and didn't tape anything up except the valve, and covered the brakes with garbage bags.
Hey buddy that rig looks nice with black wheels!! I like to do that mode, what brand and where can I buy the paint? Tanks!!

Tedbo68 Ok cool, the only one I would have to do is my spare since my bike rack uses the center hole of the rim, Unless I say screw it and leave it silver. Decisions Decisions haha
06-04-2013 11:32 AM
joeg679 I left the center cap in too
06-04-2013 11:28 AM
panthermark I dipped with my wheels off.
I used quarters on tape in the lug nut holes.
I left my center cap on....I can't see myself taking it off anytime soon. That was 5 or 6 months ago.

Tedbo68 I just ordered the stuff today and can't wait to get this done. I am thinking about getting the wheels rebalanced prior to dipping them and having the weights put only on the inside. Also, do you guys think I should take the center cap out and spray it separately or leave it in. I am worried about if I have to remove the center cap, the plasti dip peeling from the rest of the rim.

Awesome, thanks man! I suppose I could just peel off the dip on the lug nuts if I don't like it too

joeg679 I left the weights on. I asked a bunch of people and they told me that the plasti dip wouldn't affect the balance...and it hasn't. I actually just re-dipped the rims this weekend because the edges were bothering me. I took my time and made sure that I sprayed a light coating all around the inner edge where the wheel meets the tire then I sprayed a light coating over the whole face. I did about 8-10 light coats and they turned out much better and smoother than the first time I dipped them. I sprayed the inside of the rim too bc I didn't like the way it looked being silver.

mattdaddy71 I think I will be plasti-dipping my Sahara rims this weekend! First time I have ever seen them blacked out, and to me they look awesome! Thanks for posting this OP!!

Tedbo68 Did any of you guys take the wheel weights off the outside of the rim before plasti-dipping them or just left them in place?

Love that color on the TJ. Wheels really compliment it.

I sprayed and oversprayed onto the tire then let dry and it peeled off nicely, but some spots on the lip pulled up. Did you have this problem? I bought the liquid dip and a small artist paintbrush and was going to touch up the spots, but the dip would stick to those spots like the spray does.
I used a tooth pick to score around the lip of the rim after it had dried a bit.

krawdaddy I think I used 3 cans for all 5 wheels. One wasn't even finished but the cap clogged up and blew off

BCHBUGE Thanks for the post, I just bought the same vehicle and did plasti on all,of the interior silver pieces, they look great....my next step was to try thw wheels but now I see them in black, I may have them powder coated, also had the dealer reverse the tires, not a fan of the raised white letters.
Also took the silver bumper covers off, much better look.
