Well, I finally decided to join the forum! After browsing for hours and hours on here the last few weeks I decided I really needed to join.
I am 17 years old, sworn in and shipping out at the end of the month to boot camp for the U.S.C.G. Ive done some tinkering on my current truck (1999 Dodge Ram) and worked on my stepdads 1976 CJ-5 and I am looking to get my first Jeep this coming spring and would like it to be a newer one such as the JK's.
My first few questions are:
1. What are the drawbacks to getting the 4 door models? I like the idea of it being 4 full doors for the extra people and potential cargo space but theres the considerable difference in wheelbase and id like to be able to go on mild/moderate trails. What are the commentss everyone has to offer on that?
2. What lift should I get?!?!? I like the simple look of a 2.5" but the added lift height of a 4" seems like its be better for a 4 door jeep. Id like to keep it road worthy because it'll be my daily driver as well! I have two packages im looking at just because of the amount of stuff they come with that are offered from Jeep Parts & Jeep Accessories, Jeep Tops, Jeep Bumpers, Replacement Parts, for Jeep Wrangler CJ Willys - Drive Offroad under Build-A-Jeep specifically the Trail Duster and Rock Rugged. Any input is greatly appreciated guys because im extremely new to the Jeep scene and would like to make sure my first Jeep is a keeper!
