Jerry Bransford Try moving the shifter between Park and Neutral while holding the key in the Start position.

tallzdatank neutral safety switch. im tellin you. usually a bad starter clicks. a bad neutral safety switch that wouldn't. it would act as though your trying to start it in "d" or "r"

Fatherof2 my wiring running to my upper O2 sensor got too close to the exhaust down pipe and fused itself to it....Long story short, shorted out and popped a fuse...would not start. Removed short, replaced fuse, and no more problems...good luck

Buz 1 cable connections. turn on lights & try to start. if lights dim, bad starter is likely... if not, bad cable connections likely...

Wattapunk If you've already ruled out the battery and connections, I would pull the starter and take it to autozone for a free check. My guess is the starter from the issues you are experiencing.

Firemangully You might check the fuse box under the hood and make sure the ASD relay is good by swapping it with either the horn or AC relay. I had a horn problem recently and finally found out that it was a bad relay. It took me taking the ASD relay out to find out that the 13.00 part is crucial for the Jeep to start.

Good Luck!

90mph I assume you mean the solenoid clicks, not the fuse. If so, that rules out the solenoid...usually. so the next most likely culprit is the starter. I'd replace both as an assembly. Good luck.

tallzdatank neutral safety switch, or starter. more likely neutral safety switch.

I am baffled and would like some opinions PLEASE lol

I've got a '99 Wrangler, 4WD Automatic. No mods or anything like that, completely stock. Drove it to the store today, was't in the store 5 minutes, came out and she wouldn't start. Acted like the battery was dead. No click or anything. Dash lights work, headlights work, none of it is dimmed either. Luckily, I was right next to an auto shop. Brought a battery tester over, teste out fine. The fuse still clicks, tried hitting the starter, tried crossing the solenoid, nothing. Took the positive cable and touch the solenod and nothing, tried putting it in every gear to start and nothing lol. I am baffled. Anybody have any ideas?? I thought about the battery terminals but they're clean and everything is powered up anyway.
