|bobthetj03||When I visit the islands, I usually rent a jeep. I wave at all jeeps no matter what. Most of the time I usually get stink eye back in return, lol!|

|1_sick_Rubicon||An it does feel good when so many people don't wave back then you get some one that actually does the wave on their own.|

|wmwhitey||LOL I posted about this about a year ago when I got here also. AND HEY HAWAIIJOSH I have the stock 16's rite now but always wave. I just have not built the new jeep yet the one I traded in has been all over the island with ease.|

|HawaiiJosh||Plus on Kauai we know just about every 4th driver we pass so waving is pretty normal jeep or not|

True! Those are the exception - kinda easy to spot. They're the ones that are way too clean and still have the mini stock tires... HA!
For the most part any that are modified or older models pay their respects...
I think the dealerships need to do a better job of educating the new owners into the culture that we have! Not only the wave but the 4x4 basics and respect for the land...
I say if the dealership or person you bought your Jeep from didn't mention any of the above you have the right to go back and smack them!

I'm sure everyone here understands the wave. I've been on island for about a year and am shocked at how few people here return it. There is a huge number of Wranglers on the roads here but I'd say only about 50% actually return the wave. What's the deal? On the mainland 99% of drivers know and return it - why is it not the same here?
