|McDaniel||I found my stock radio in the basement, it is avalible for very cheap if you still need a unit. just send me a PM|

It was said before, but I'll say it again...
Wranglers 97-01 have the same radio - squared edges and two harnesses
Wranglers 02 have the same shaped radio as the 97-01's, but Chrysler changed the harness and antenna connection.
Wranglers 03-06 have the rounded edge radios with the new style harness and antenna connection.
If you want to replace the radio in your 2000 Wrangler, make sure it's not from an 02 or above Wrangler as it won't be a plug-and-play solution.

|j.e.b.||Hey guys, thanks for all your input. I ended up finding a guy selling his here in the classifieds section for $40. It should be here Friday. Maybe I'll photo document the swap. May not be the most exciting mod thought since its basically putting it back to its original state.|

|Green03TJ||Here's the type on eBay I was talking about. Went back and found the old thread. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...id=67506877028|

|Neil F.||Apparently there are a number of Chrysler radios used in lots of Chrysler vehicles that can be plugged in. Radios from Jeeps and other Chrysler vehicles on ebay and the for sale sections here and other jeep forums (I sold my sock 03 on another forum for 60.00) A good aftermarket head unit does not cost much more that 100 and is so much better than the stock unit in power, sound and features.|

|Wattapunk||Going stock will make it difficult to upgrade your system later w/o buying additional adapters to make it compatible for amps, ipods etc... Another problem with buying a used unit is its lifespan is also limited. These are known to fail. Just IMO.|

I prefer the stock look as well. There were 2 stock options in 2000 I believe.
One had a cassette player and am/fm, and the other is cd and am/fm. I have both. I used to run the cassette with an adapter and it worked well. I upgraded the radio but kept the stock head unit when I sold the jeep, because I liked the cassette and stock look. My current has the cd, and is finicky as to what burned cds work (I believe that goes for all of them though
Ive got either of them if your interested.
They are easy to install
also the 03+ stock head units will not fit directly in an 97-02 wrangler
Ive got an 02 and the display sometimes goes out.. (was considering either a cherokee cd/tape combo or one from a 03-06 TJ and adapting it to work.. have had no luck finding either locally)

|notuck||There are auxiliary adapters available that can be installed with a stock head unit. I don't know if it will fit a 2000 model for sure, but the stock radio out of my 06 is sitting around the house somewhere. If it will fit you're welcome to it. Just send me a message if you want it.|
|10-15-2012 09:50 PM|
|Green03TJ||I'm pretty sure someone linked to a company on eBay a while back that sold oem radios they had installed auxiliary ports on. Might search for them.|
|10-15-2012 09:44 PM|
|jrussblues||The stock radio through 06 had no aux port, look on eBay if you want oe but I think the lack of an aux input just killed your want for an oe radio.|

Stock radio source
I just bought a 2000 wrangler sport. The previous owner added an aftermarket stereo receiver. I prefer to have everything stock. Can anyone recommend a place to purchase stock oem am/fm/cd player? Will I be able to plug in an aux cable if I swap it back?
