If your offroading is going to be relatively mild or you just don't know, buy the sport as several folks have suggested. Then make only one mod right away - tires. As you get some offroad experience you will have a much better handle on what mods you really need. You may be able to do everything you want without ever lifting. Most important you will not waste money on mods that aren't really worth it to you.
And OBTW, hook up with some more experience offroaders to get the experience you need. Don't try to go alone.

|chim-chim7||I think everyone should own a CJ or YJ as their first Jeep. Then when they buy a JK they wont notice the Ill handling, slow acceleration, and fuel consumption. The JK will seem like a Bentley.|

|CG3||Forget the rear locking diff. Be sure you get an LSD and 3.73 gears. If you really want lockers... buy a Rubicon. Comes with. You most likely want to get new wheels, with less backspace than the stock wheels.|

|KJjk5||no garage i was thinking getting a stock sport and adding some things. From what i saw in some of the forums im thinking a getting rock rails 33 inch tires a 2.5 lift skid plates and a winch maybe some rear locking differential. How much should those upgrades cost and or do i need all of those things or am i missing something i need to add.|

Hit up mr wheel deal. I got ny shoes from them and picked up locally in the burbs, threw all 5 mounted wheels in the back of my jku.

|lolpetewtf||There are a thousand sport v Rubicon threads on here discussing this same thing. It comes down to how much you want to spend. It does not sound to me a Rubicon will be worth it in your case. Get a sport S with the limited-slip diff. Think of all the money you will save over buying something you will likely not need.|

|KJjk5||I live in wrigleyville. I debating between a sport s and a rubicon gas mileage is not to much of a issue even tho i would prefer better gas mileage. Not for sure how much off road i will be doing and is it worth all the extra money. I just dont want to regret not getting the rubicon. Also the heated seat option sounds nice since i cant get the remote start on the manual transmission|

First of all you should look at Jeep's Wrangler website and see what the distinct differences are between the models. Second of all you should figure out weather or not you care about gas mileage - bigger the tires, bumpers etc. = less mpgs. Your budget is plenty for any Wrangler + modifications. Most people do a 2.5" lift with 33s" it seems. That should more than suffice since you are new to this whole thing.

Looking to buy a manual jk in the next couple months. I plan on using my jeep as a daily driver(i am single and live in chicago) but i am also def planning on using it off road (which im not very experienced at.) With a budget of between 35-40 thousand what model and mods should i consider looking at.
