Hey All,

Daniel here, checking in. Long time car guy and first time Jeep owner. This past weekend I bought a black 2000 Jeep Wrangler, Sahara package, factory hard top, fogs, and 31" tires on alloys -only bad news, it's an auto. It's been sitting for 2 years because it makes a noise that my horticulturalist pal couldn't figure out and was intimidated by.

It has a MIL illuminated (P300, P303, & P304). It also makes a terrible clattering noise that doesn't seem to follow the rotating assembly. When she's engaged in reverse or drive, the sound mostly goes completely away. It's bizarre. I haven't pulled the inspection plate on the trans yet, but I think it's coming from that area. It will also need an oil sending unit sometime within the next year. It has plenty of lube oil, but sometimes the sensor reads 0 PSI. If I cycle the key, it reads pressure again.

To get it running I put a belt on it (actually an 89.5" belt so someone changed something), battery, oil & filter, & coolant flush. Then I drove it 4 hours home.

I look forward to making her into a trail machine. I envision some roof racks, functional snorkel, 33s or 35s, as low of a lift as I can get away with but still functional. With regard to bumpers, I'm a minimalist into function. I'm definitely looking for an integrated receiver hitch/rear bumper. All things in time.

I'm also looking forward to learning where nearby trails are, developing friendships with other Jeep enthusiasts and friendships with people here at the boards.

Thanks for your time!
