Also google "jeep trails in hanksville". I printed up some great trail guides for that area around hanksville and zion NP. I'll look for them and post the website if I find them.

That sounds great !! I have a bum knee so I don't know how much hiking I'll be doing. I can go some ,but rocks give me fits...
We are taking our two oldest grandsons (10-7) with us so we;ll see what happens.
Too bad we won't be taking the Jeep on this trip . I broke the spare carrier and have a New Or-Fab on order but the two week wait turned into 4 weeks....Unless it gets here soon I won't have time to install it.
I plan to service the Jeep in the next few days so it's ready just incase the Carrier comes..
Thank's for all the input guys, I really Appreciate it !! "BH"

If you want to get out of the Jeep, I recommend renting the gear and hiking up the narrows in Zion. It's a deep slot canyon with a cold running stream through it. Dry pants, canyon shoes, and a sturdy walking stick are good to have. Check with the rangers to make sure there isn't any rain in the canyon's watershed. Angels landing at Zion is a great trail with views too.

Sorry for such a long delay. For some reason I didn't get notifications of updates to this thread.
Barring a freak early winter flurry you should have awesome weather. Great time to visit.
If you are looking to hit some mild dirt there are some beatiful dirt roads just outside of Bryce that travel from Kodachrome State Park down to Kanab, UT. Kodachrome is just a few miles East of Bryce. I believe the first road is called Skutumpah. Another option is Cottonwood Canyon which puts you a bit east of Kanab. Both of these roads travel through Grand Staircase National Monument. From Kanab you could circle back through Zion ZP or through the Coral Pink Sanddunes (another beautiful area with some easy dirt).
If it has rained you will want to avoid all dirt roads in the area.

|bobsled84088||If you will only be traveling to this part of Utah for a once in a lifetime trip , forget the offroading and do the tourist thing. The country that you will be traveling thru is amazingly beautiful. There are three national parks Zion, Bryce,Grand canyon- 2 national monuments Cedar Breaks and Grand Staircase-Escalante . These areas can easily be toured in a week .Take the top off and and have a wonderful time.|

Bryce is an overlook to overlook type of park.
Try to do a few hikes if possible.
Bryce , Zion, Grand Canyon,Cedar Breaks Coral Pink sand dunes near Kanab are just a few things to see around there.
Fishing at Duck Creek on Cedar mountain is a fun way to beat the heat .
Very beautiful country Great time of year to visit Have fun

Bryce Canyon , Utah Question
Wife is planning a trip into Bryce Canyon this September... I was wondering if any of you have been thru Bryce Canyon ?
I'd like to take the 07-JKU-X and come into Utah from Nevada as I would like to drive the "UFO highway" and check some of that out on the way. We have been thru Nevada lots of times and never got off the beatin path.
We drove thru MOAB a couple years ago, lots of neat country there.
Thanks for any info !! "BH"
PS: I did a search of this forum using "Bryce Canyon" and it came up no matches...
