burton861 Here you can see there is still plenty of room in the trunk. That was my main concern and this was the most cost efficient way to keep space loss to a minimum. I considered the jk probox and jl stealth box but they are so expensive.

That is a 35 inch tire and its got about an inch clearance on the other side too.

Also I have full access to the secret compartment that lifts up!

burton861 So I have finally finished installing everything I planned on doing as far as sound system goes! This included a Pioneer head unit (AVH-2400bt), A kicker mono amp (dx500.1), and a rocksford fosgate 12" shallow truck sub+enclosure (P3S-1X12). I bought everything off of amazon and it was all under $800 (including all wiring and necessary installation stuff).

I put my head unit in last wednesday and the sound was immediately better, but the stock 8" sub couldnt handle it! So last weekend I installed the amp and sub. That actually took much longer than the head unit. I took the drivers seat out and but the amp under there, and the sub bolted in the back to the wheel well.

This was my very first time doing an install like this, I had no prior experience and was nervous about not going through crutchfield with there great service. However with a few phone calls to various companies any problem I had was figured out!

I don't think ill be doing any more upgrades to sound because it is awesome the way it is now, here are some pictures. I'd be happy to help anyone who needs it.

burton861 I have a question about the radio antenna for anyone who has changed their head unit. When I took out the stock radio, there were three things attached to it:the wiring harness, and two cables that were exactly the same connection, one was yellow and the other was white. I know that one of these is the fm/am antenna, and crutch field said the other might be the satellite radio antenna. Well I bought the metra antenna adapter- the correct one- and it doesn't want to fit into either of the antenna wires. Has anyone had this problem?

I need to know which cable is the correct one (white or yellow)

And why isn't it wanting to fit?

burton861 I installed the stereo today! took about 7 hours with a friend and lunch and breaks. So far, everything has been great! The bluetooth is really convenient and I am impressed with the head unit so far- it looks classy and not trashy (unless you change the button colors) and it is easy to navigate and use.

I bought everything off amazon so I did not have the support of Crutchfield, and this being my first time at this I was nervous about that but so far so good! Ive got a 12 sub and amp that I will install this weekend so then the sound will be complete! and eventually a backup camera.

If anyone has any questions about the install or anything like that let me know, Ill be putting up pictures tomorrow when there is some light

stevenjoywell yeah,i agree it, the screen and button brightness doesn't adjust with the interior dimmer.

mrjonescu I did the install myself. It wasn't too bad.

The biggest PIA was removing the metal bracket behind the stock radio. It's only difficult because of limited access. Everything else was easy.

On a non-Infinity system, I was able to use the Axxess XSVI-6522-NAV. I found one on ebay for under $12.00. It worked great and was easy to install (if you are familiar with wiring). I also used the Metra 95-6511 dash kit, I was less impressed with the quality of this.

Good Luck.

PUNCH Loaded Enclosures - P3S-1X12 - Rockford Fosgate®

I can get them both on amazon for about the same price, and the RMS wattage is 100 more on the 12".

I listen to all kinds of music: rock, alternative, hip-hop, rap, country etc.

I have friends with 2 12's that shake the neighborhood which I don't need, but I do want plenty of bass when I am in the mood for it.

My main concern is that the 12" box is like another foot longer, so it takes up just that much more room in my trunk.

What do y'all think I should get?
If you use your Jeep for longer trips where you have a fair amount of gear I would go with the 10 inch sub so that you have more room in the back.

To the OP - good luck and I am sure that a number of us will follow your progress .

warbird24 I wonder how well this unit would work in a Stock JK Sport?

burton861 mr jones, did you do the install yourself? if so how difficult was it?
10-18-2012 08:33 PM
mrjonescu I put the same HU in my 2010. So far, it's been great.

Only small disappointment, the screen and button brightness doesn't adjust with the interior dimmer. There are only 2 settings, bright (when headlights are off) and dim (when headlights are on).

I'm taking the leap! Will you come with me?

So tonight I figured I would stop thinking and dreaming about getting a new head unit, and just pull the trigger and buy one!

Here Is what I am getting
Pioneer AVH-P2400BT

I have the infinity system and I am getting this because I want to add a sub (and its amp) and a backup camera.

Im sure I will have some questions along the way, so please feel free to help! I am also going to do a write up as everything gets installed.
