Rethought

After my son and I went and got a load of firewood I pulled the drivers seat out. Scribed the lines to cut the hole over the transfer case larger, I thought that was a bad idea. There's a brace going across right where the front seats bolt in that I would have removed. Not a good idea. Should have the 231 out tonight or in the morning, football games on tonight?

Good point! Pulling the np231 this weekend for the sye install. I don't mean to rub it in....but I will. I'm on vacation until January 2nd.

Got more tacked in

Here's where I'm a tonight. I don't have 220v out in the garage so I need to make an adapter so I can plug the miller into my generator so I can finish the welding. I just used the 110 setting for the tacking.

The trade for the aluminum heads for the F350 frame on the Dana 60's looks promising. Found out tonight that it comes with some pretty good rollers.

Bought some steel

This is what I'm thinking, the 2 pieces on top will be cut at a 45 and will be gussets along with another going right to left under the tail gate.

daddyjeep I like that. It blends the old and new together nicely.

I got a deal in the works, trading my aluminum heads for a '94 F350 frame on dana 60 axles. This is cool, I don't need the heads until I build the 383. I do need the front dana 60. I'll sell the frame and rear 60.
Does this one show up?

That seems to be the trend up here in Michigan. If it's sets still for to long it's gone. My dog gets nervous nowadays.

Scooby88 Sorry for the upside down pic.

Scooby88 Look what showed up today! Going to keep working on the rear, plan on dropping the transfer case over the holiday break. My last day of work is Dec.16th should be able to get a lot done.

Scooby88 Did some cutting and tacking this afternoon, I like it! I need to cut the bumper off the pieces of frame removed, it seems pretty stout so I'll reuse it.

Sye ordered!

Just like it says...ordered it tonight. Ended up buying it from Summit...Free shipping made it the best deal. Also picked up the steel for the stretching of the rear.
Busy as hell at work but my last day of the year is the 17th, should get some stuff done!

Scary part was cutting off the stock motor mounts, I'm way past that! It's getting fun now.

Scooby88 Oh yeah! I see my build hit 30,000 hits. That's cool, I hope I'm helping someone or giving others ideas.

Thinking too much

Another change in plans, I was just going to weld onto the rear bumper and add the spring perches but I think that would look like a hack job. Sooo I ordered steel today so I will cut and add to the frame, I think it will look better and be stronger.
It will stretch the frame 11" and move the axle back 9". Here's a shot simulating what the stretch will look like.

Scooby88 Got these made, not going to brag about the welds. Still getting the feel of the new welder with this auto set.

Scooby88 Here's where I'm at now with the leaf spring mounts, added a grease zerk, cutting the 2"x 4" in half.
11-26-2014 09:19 PM
Scooby88 I'll post my new plans in the dash, working on the leaf spring mounts tonight.

I really like the dash. I would like another spot or two for gauges.

Build in a deck for a cb to be mounted inside of it like a stereo or a 6 gang for switches and controls for lights, lockers, cb power, winch controls etc

Scooby88 Sorry, haven't ordered the sye yet. Chainsaw took a crap so I had to buy another one, got a good deal on a homelite from the 70's and this thing rips! (Loud as hell) the guy had another old small homelite that I just have to have that I pick up Saturday, it's getting cold up here and I heat the garage with wood plus I sell it.

daddyjeep That's the problem when your Jeep gets bigger. I've run into that problem a few times myself.
