M1CR0B1AL Upgrading my interior trim. Decided to go with painting it chrome with some black accents. Also, went ahead and did my garage door opener too. hehe.

Have to wait a bit before I can add the Black writing accents, I think it looks pretty nice so far!

ljvsnyder you can now buy paintable interior trim parts if you don't want to mess up your stock trim. They also have a few colors available already painted. Check out ebay, paintable is about $124.00 the pre painted is $186.00 or so.

If you haven't already seen it, go check UGATyler's build thread. He's got a black jeep with red accents and it looks bad !

So the bed liner resists the mineral spirits?

Siggy14 Just paint, you can always remove it if it does not turn out good.

Here are a couple posts from another thread that explain how to take off the vent caps.

StarBrite Word of advice to those with Billet jeeps with the Iron Grey interior trim:

I did this mod successfully on my hydro with the bright silver sparkle interior trim. But when I used the EXACT same process on Mike's Billet, the mineral spirits took the Iron Grey finish off.

To fix it he bought a can of rustoleum metallic charcoal spray paint, and the color is almost identical. I'm going to try to redo the lettering in blue once the new charcoal has fully cured.

The only thing I can think of that is different is that the silver rings had an extremely shiny, almost plastic-y finish to them and the iron grey trim was very flat, bare looking. I'm guessing the silver sparkle had a clear gloss sprayed over the top to give them that look, while the iron grey did not.

Hopefully this will help someone else out and not get stuck like I did!

I used hobby acrylic Tamaya brand paint, an airbrush and the solvent was denatured alcohol.

I waited 10 min until paint was near dry but tacky.

tomgillotti I like this. Anyone create a video doing this on their Jeep??

Spaste19 Just did it. Very easy 20 minutes maybe. Though, I would recommend taking out the false torx screws. I used the hole to pry out the assembly so I didn't scar up the black portion of the grab handle with a screw driver.

Charlie Joker I'm just wondering if you could buy one of those touch up paint bottles from the dealer and paint it while still installed.

NeoJeep I love this mod. Looks great. Planning on doing this on my Dozer JKU, when I do the rest of the trim. Already ordered the Dozer paint and awaiting delivery. But wanted to test out the technique in the meantime, so just filled it in with Black for now. Will paint entire handle in Dozer and redo the black lettering next week. Overall, it turned out pretty well. Much easier than I thought.
