I waited 10 min until paint was near dry but tacky.

|Bolter303||Do you wait until the paint is dry before you wipe off the excess with the mineral spirits?|

|Spaste19||Just did it. Very easy 20 minutes maybe. Though, I would recommend taking out the false torx screws. I used the hole to pry out the assembly so I didn't scar up the black portion of the grab handle with a screw driver.|

|Charlie Joker||I'm just wondering if you could buy one of those touch up paint bottles from the dealer and paint it while still installed.|

Like it a lot.
Would love to see some other colors if anybody has done it.

|NeoJeep||I love this mod. Looks great. Planning on doing this on my Dozer JKU, when I do the rest of the trim. Already ordered the Dozer paint and awaiting delivery. But wanted to test out the technique in the meantime, so just filled it in with Black for now. Will paint entire handle in Dozer and redo the black lettering next week. Overall, it turned out pretty well. Much easier than I thought.|

|woansleftpeg||How do you remove the handle in the first place? Is it just held in with the same sort of clips that other trim pieces have?|

Nice job Im thinking about using a lacquer stik to inlay my letters in black over the Gecko I painted them with. Ive used it on guns before and it works well.

|TwoJeepsinTx||So I'm in the process of painting my trim, doing orange crush to match the paint. After seeing this I'm thinking the bar would look cool with orange paint and black lettering. My question for any paint gurus is can I apply black paint and wipe it off using this method after applying the orange? I'm thinking if I let it dry really well I might be OK. I also have some clearcoat I was going to apply at the end, would that be better to use between the orange and the black to avoid problems?|

|SinCityJets||A couple people have PM'd some questions. I do wipe down the entire bar with the mineral spirits before I start. This takes off any grease or "product" that may be on the plastic. No need to try and sand or scuff these areas first.|

This is a simple mod that only takes 15 minutes. 10 if you've done it once before.

Which exact paint did you buy to match the DCR? Is it really VIN-matched paint, or did you just pick the closest thing Rustoleum had to DCR?
The reason I ask is because I have a DCR Jeep as well, and I've ordered other expensive matching spray paint before, but I wasn't aware that Rustoleum offers a DCR...
Looks great btw!
