Ensure the alignment marks on the speed housing that holds the gear is in the correct position in relation to the alignment mark on the SYE housing AND you have them aligned to the right number of speedo gear teeth as embossed on the speedo gear housing. If they are off.. you will chew gears.

Wesboy I've ran 3 different size speedo gears in my RR since I've had it and they have all been fine.

muddybuddy My RR SYE leaks. I just ran into a problem with my SYE - The cover near the speedo is the incorrect apparently. My speedo gears are all chewed up. (not fitting correctly ) I don't know if Desert Rat messed up the install or I was supposed to buy some extra parts or what.Anyone else have this issue (TJ)

coley Yeah, I am. I had issues with the tone ring slipping and making my speedo wacky. Took me awhile to find out I just need to tighten the output nut. Some needed a shim that RR will supply. Other than that, no leaky seal yet. It came with my Jeep and I heard others are better, but it works.

MarkNog Yep I agree with TnDz, can't tell ya how many RR SYE's i've seen on here with leaky output seals.

Jerry Bransford SYE kits all seem to be pretty good, haven't heard any complaints with any brand like that.
