uktrippa Hey ya
If you go onto the beach at Bundegi (about 10km past the HEH Base) the sand is really, really soft at the beginning then you have around a 20km stretch of sand to play on. Everyone here has a 4WD so heaps of people are on the beach. You are unable to go on the beach on the west side just the gulf side. There are heaps of 4WD tracks in the canons but as yet I have not gone on these. The guys that I work with do say that some of the tracks are awesome.

If you are going up that way with your jeep then you will have heaps to do and see. Definitely drop into ausjeep and some of the locals will definitely give you a few ideas on where to head. I'm the other side of oz so can't really help.
