We hooked it up - Nav works (map needs updating) Sirius works, but Voice Response and UConnect did not work. It seemed like the unit couldn't "hear" me - so this seems like the fix... Am I right?

Yes- what you're doing is exactly what I did, that is described here. Once you modify the harness and reconnect, you should be good to go for the mic.

AMW_Rubicon_2014 Just finished installing the 730N, complete with the wiring mod for my existing uConnect to re-enable the mic from my connectivity package.

Thanks for saving me about 80 bucks and the need to buy a new harness! 👍

I'm doing something similar- I have the 130 with connectivity and Bluetooth though- and just bought a 730N.

Is it completely plug and play then- can I use the existing mic from the 130, and not have to worry about purchasing anything else?

Also- do I need to take it to the dealer to flash it for it to function? It came out of another Jeep.

Awesome info, thank you so much. Now I assume since you did this that you also had to fiddle with the wires and connectors per this write up right? I have read other places that the mic is simply plug and play and does not require you to remove pins from one connector and rewire things.

Doctorsti I may need this tutorial as I'm likely going to embark on the 130n upgrade to the 730n and want to keep the mic i have from the connectivity package. Some seem to have said this swap is completely plug and play for 2013's but I have no idea what to believe yet.

Dru I did this today in half an hour and it worked perfect. A couple of things I came across, the extension cable for the USB is impossible to find. Get it of the internet before you open everything up. Also, On my 2013 harness, I had 2 green/yellow wires. i used a multi-meter to find the one that was common with the original microphone green/yellow, then used the other one. Again, Ndrugby you are a genius.

pwecr Not sure what to do with it now.
12-15-2012 08:32 PM
sircody Cool, yeah those are LockPick harnesses...
12-15-2012 08:19 PM
pwecr I think your right.
12-15-2012 07:44 PM
sircody Yeah lockPick is great to have. So you mean Harnesses that would be in the vehicle if those options were already installed, say like rear Video etc. Those harnesses would connect to the extra devices if you added them. You can find the extras on ebay from sellers of wrecked vehicles etc...most of which usually have to be programed to work, as the Lock Pick lets you add non Factory and design your setup more freely...
12-15-2012 07:20 PM
pwecr No lockpick. Just additional harness. I thought it was weird too. Wish I had a LockPick.
12-15-2012 07:09 PM
sircody LockPick came with it?
12-15-2012 06:17 PM
pwecr Mine is a 730n RHR. I bought mine used on eBay and it came with an extra harness for cameras and additional audio and video inputs. I am not using them at the moment. May add a camera later though.

What nav system is on yours? one usb means it's a RHB not RHR

jwilson2598 Sorry to hijack, but I didn't realize my RHR had 2 USB jacks. Can you add a second cable to it for another USB jack? That would make 3 total on it.
12-15-2012 01:38 PM
pwecr Just finished this today. It worked awesome. I have all the functionality I had before with the mic and I just need to buy the USB extender on the web somewhere. Ndrugby you are a genius. For anyone else who may do this, it's not that hard.

sircody 1/4" hole between the right side of the speedo, between the Radio and speedo, The center Dash with Radio and HVAC area comes out further then the left or right side of Dash area so that blocks the wind from blowing into the mic.

xsdbs Where did you put the mic? Do you have a picture of it?

The GPS/Sat antenna is pretty simple to get to, it's on top of the metal roll bar over the passenger's seat under the roll bar zipper covers.
If anybody wants to know where a Microphone picks up best and install can be a flush install with about a 1/4" hole or less.
First place i installed it, drove interstate doing 80, top off, doors off and Music cranked.....she heard me first time no problem.....

Oh yeah.....I have a deep country accent and she still heard perfectly....LOL

What i meant to say was take a pic. I am posting from my phone and it really has a mind of it's own sometimes especially if i don't proof read.
