|Rah1973||Well I replaced the gauge cluster and my problem is fixed. It also fixed a smaller issue of the speedo reading 10mph faster than I was actually going.|

|Rah1973||Well I replaced the sensor with no luck. I did make another discovery however. Through the course of checking and disassmebling I discovered that the instrumetn panel had been taken apart by the previous owner. I found that they had removed the cel. I think that while they did this they may have removed the need on the temp gauge thus making it read incorrectly. I ordered a new instrument cluster hoping this fixes my problem.|

Well I did some testing. With the engine running I disconnected the harness to the coolant sensor and the guage moved up slightly, also the fan instantly comes on. Yes, when the key is off the guage moves down. I think your right it almost has to be the coolant sensor. I will get one tomorrow and relpace it and see what happens.

I'm pretty sure there is only one sensor. It is connected to the PCM which then probably uses that signal for both functions.
I should have asked one more thing, does the gauge go down to the low end when the key is off or stay at 100 all the time?

|Sherpa||In years past (such as on my 1989 Plymouth Voyager), Chrysler used two temp sensors: a 2-wire sensor at the thermostat to control the radiator fan, and a separate 1-wire sensor for the coolant temp gauge. If your 2.4L is still like this, the sensor mentioned above won't be the cause. Look carefully on the cylinder head for any 1-wire connections.|

|Rah1973||Thanks for the reply. I thought that sensor sent the temp info to the computer to activate the fan and so on. Does it also work the guage? Maybe I should just change it and see if it makes a difference..|

|RUBI 4 MY MRS||I think it is at the front of the engine on the driver's side near where the top radiator hose goes to the engine. Should be near the t-stat. 2 wires to it, dark blue/dark green & violet/orange. It should have variable resistance accross the 2 terminals as the temp changes.|

I've got a problem with the temp guage on my 05 with the 2.4l engine. For some reason the temp guage is not working. It just sit at 100deg. I have changed the t-stat with no change. I have read other post saying there is a sensor that goes to the guage but I have not seen any post mentioning the 2.4l engine. The engine is not overheating and the heater seems to be working fine. Any suggestion or info would be greatly appreciated.
