The wiring kit to make the wiper/defrost work is $165 and is available from a lot of places. Labor to install at a dealership is 2-4 hours depending on if they've done them before. Then you've got $90 fee to flash the ECU.

WXman, by touchup do you mean paint or did you have to do other mods, such as for the alignment pins? (admittedly, I am not familiar with the equipment but looking to learn).
My stealership also quoted me aprox $1,500 on a new OEM soft top.. luckily it was under warranty and a spring had broken in half....
Oh and please post the price on wiring, if you are able.

Just picked up a 2011+ style hardtop for my JKU for $500. Did a little touchup on it and it's working fine. Now I'm going to find out how much it'll cost to have the wiring installed to make the wiper/washer fluid work.
The newer tops have larger glass and different alignment pins and the connection for the wiper is now protected by a plastic cover to help prevent damage to the harness. Otherwise, they're all interchangeable. The freedom panels from 09-13 are more desireable because they latch differently and are a little less prone to leaks.
For the record, a factory soft top with tinted windows for a JKU is $1,530.00 on Q-tecs website so the people selling them for $400 bucks are taking a huge beating on them.

|Finley||Great thread. I am looking for a hard top before driving from AZ to VA next summer and I have started researching now, for a possible purchase in February. After reading this, will wait till early summer and hunt for deals!|

Browse CRAZEDLIST every day. See how I spelled that?
Its a cool site that lets you plug in multiple cities on Craigslist.
Dealer in another county put up a hard top for $400.
Called him and picked it up within 2 hours w/ my step dads truck.
He said he had tons of calls but I got there 1st.
Only minor scratches (I was planning on that anyway)
It is khaki in color from a 2008 on my 2011.
I should mention the rear defroster / wiper / squirts don't work because I don't really care to have them wired in.

|Ape||I believe so... the 2011+ hardtop has a bit larger windows all-around, but the dimensions and connecting points are unchanged.|

What about fitment? Does the 2012 fit all JK's 2008 and up.
If you know that would be nice.
And YES you did Dagooooo

|jkjeeper06||Best time to buy a hard top is summer. That's when people think they dont need dual tops and sell their hardtop back to the dealer. I got a take-off Ht that had been taken off upon delivery for 1300. Used you might be able to find them a tiny bit cheaper. The nice thing about looking in summer is that you have a lot of time to shop around and find a deal before winter|

|RoobyRoo||Brand new they are $2300+ not installed. But if your Jeep didn't come with the hard top or dual top option then it needs to be wired for the defrost and wiper. Total install took my dealer 4 hours. Luckily I got the HT and install thrown in for the option price when I purchased ($1650 I think it was) because ordering new from Mopar and installation after the fact would have been close to 3k.|

|daggo66||Did I not tell you to keep the soft top and sell the hard top last time?|
|01-27-2012 01:52 PM|
Nope, looking into trading in my lease of 1.5 yrs, and getting a 2012.
Kinda want to have a soft top this time around, and be able to use the Jeep for what it is meant for,, DROP TOP!!
But Im looking for the same deal I got Last purchase, Free soft top.
Then I would sell the Hartop,, I would get black of course, easier to sell.
Then get set up with some 33's with Black 15x8 Alloy wheels. And do a Stubby asap!!!
Then sell the stock tire/wheel combo.
Im thinking white or silver Jeep this time?
I got 4 local dealers working with me now. First offer was purchase my lease out, $5k in payments left. Get into a $29k msrp 2 door. Loan would be for $28k over 5 yrs.
But like I said,, thats the first........... : )

|daggo66||What are you planning now? I thought you had a HT and sold your ST? Isn't your lease up yet?|
|01-27-2012 01:35 PM|
I think it's about $700 for a new soft top with all the hardware. New fabric is like $300. I assumed you were looking for used hard top prices, and that's what I've seen them going for.
|01-27-2012 01:29 PM|
$800-$1200 isnt that far off a softop price.
Arnt these about $2500 New from Jeep?
|01-27-2012 01:21 PM|
|jgaley69||Not for sure about years but from dealer tops are over $1500, finding used one is harder for me|
|01-27-2012 01:01 PM|
|Mr. Sinister||I've seen anywhere from $800 to $1200 locally. Wish I had the dough, I'd love to have one for the winter months.|
