12/2001 TJ Wrangler Rear Diff Assembly

Good Afternoon All

I am new here and I had a question. I am currently very annoyed. I own a 12/2001 TJ Wrangler. 8 weeks ago it made a clunk clunk when I went around a corner so I took it straight to the mechanic. He has so far had it for 8 weeks and I found out yesterday a Jeep Cherokee was taken to the local tip and I might have been able to use the rear diff on that. Unfortunately it is not the same size. Anyway enough of my crying. It doesn't fit and to buy the parts new it will cost me around $5,900 (so the mechanic says!) I do not have that money at all. I have rung the auto wreckers in Perth and Bunbury and they are on the look out for me but do you have any suggestions on what else I could do?

Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
