1BLKJP I personally will only use Warn. It's just a personal preference based on how much we use our winches out here and the fact that I can get replacement parts for it should I need to pretty much anywhere in the country.

However I have seen good things out of that Smittybuilt winch. For 270 bucks I think it would do you well.

NalinMFG 50+ pulls and my bad mouthed 10,000lb Harbor Freight winch has yet to fail.

slolane I have the Superwinch Epi 9.0 (EPi9.0 Winch)

It's a little over $500 but also in considering this, you want to get whats right for you and strong enough for your needs.

Also consider if your bumper has a built in mount plate or if your running stock and need a mount plate.

Best of luck,

I have this winch... Used it twice so far and have been pretty happy with the results. If you use it with a snatch block, you increase its capabilities significantly.

chasm I have been really impressed by the Warn M-8000 that I got in 2008. I have actually used it, and it's worth its' weight in gold when you really need it. It is made by one of the oldest and most reputable manufacturers of winches, so it has a solid reputation. Quadratec and some of the other retailers run specials in the $500 range if you keep your eyes open.

Be aware that you may have to spend money on a mounting kit, fairlead and so on, since most winches have multiple applications. Don't go cheap when you mount it. I recommend using grade 8 hardware too. You don't want to experience a catastrophic failure because you used cheap hardware! You may also want to think about a battery upgrade to handle the pull from the winch. I use the Optima Yellow Top in 2 of my Jeeps!

Here's a pic of my Winch and my roller fairlead set-up:

nicolas-eric or one of the smittybilt winches:
SmittyBilt Electric Winch - 8,000 to 10,500 lbs.

Jma20a will something like this work PEC8 Electric Winch

nicolas-eric thatīs not strong enough.
on the uppercable layer it pulls only 3300 lbs.
you should install a winch with at least 8000 or 9500 lbs. in some situations a 12.000 lbs winch isnīt enough.

Jma20a i was looking at this PE6000 Electric Winch

i don't do much heavy wheeling.

Coyote_94YJ I would say a Warn, Superwinch or Ramsey 8000 lbs or more. The general rule of thumb is when picking a winch, take the weight of your rig and multiply by 2 and will give you a starting point.

nicolas-eric this would be my first choice:
EP9.0 Winch
