IslandTJ I use silicone spray and it seems to work well in cold weather.

aflemke Up here in MN the cold days always cause mine to squeak the same way. Forgot about it until it got into the 20's last month. Mine also goes away when it gets warm. Maybe I'll grease it in June when the weather warms up too cold out there now!

NC Bear I have done the lithium grease and have noticed that on cold mornings I still squeek but as the tub warms up the squeek goes away...

JoshNW Thanks, I will give it more and see if I can get it deeper into the boot somehow.

Appreciate it. Glad to just know I am on the right track to get it done.

Jerry Bransford Are you certain you're getting the white lithium grease all the way through where the shaft passes through the rubber boot? One application on my TJ's steering boot was enough to cure the squeaking the last ten years I owned it. If you're using enough good quality white lithium grease there, I just dunno what to tell you because it permanently stopped mine from ever squeaking again. Maybe a heavier bearing grease? But heck, I just can't figure out why the white lithium isn't doing the job if you're using enough & it's good quality.

Squeaky Steering

Ive got squeaks whenever I turn my wheel at slow speed (less that 5mph). I have isolated this to the boot that allows the steering to go through the firewall and Ive used lithium grease on it, and it works for about a day to get rid of the squeak.

What can I use for a more permanent fix?

thanks

Josh
