|Jerry Bransford||Available TJ Dana 44 axles are hard to find and highly desireable. However, his $1150 asking prices is more than I would pay. I'd go to him with eight crisp $100 bills in your wallet, take them out so he sees there is nothing but a few ones or fives left, and make him an offer with perhaps an extra $100 hidden in pocket he doesn't know about. I paid $800 for mine when they (TJ Dana 44 axles) were far less plentiful than they are today.|

Hey all, I'm just looking for some advice here. I have a 200 TJ 5 speed I6 with the dana 30/35 combo. I have a lot of futre plans for the TJ but first order is to upgrade my D35 with either a superior super 35 Kit, D44 or 8.8. I eventually want to go to 35"s (currently on 33's). I understand that upgrading the TJ to properly run 35's is quite extensive, costly and time consuming but i am currenlty gathering the required parts. I figure I have at least another year on my current tires so that gives me the time to aquire everything I need and do most of it at one time.
My question is, I have a line on a used TJ rear dana 44 (stock shafts) with 3.73 gears and a lockright in it. the guy is asking $1150.00 with the trade of my dana 35. Is this a good price and worth it? or should I just do the super 35 which I can get from 4x4Groupbuy.com for $1194.00 with a arb or a electric locker for 4.88 gears (which from these forums I understand 4.88's are optimal for 35's and a 5 speed and the super 35 locked will be at its upper limits with locked 35's).
I know I have to change the gears in the D44 and would like to put a selectable locker in it eventually. I dont have the required fabrication/welding skills to do a 8.8 myself so from what I understand I would be paying around the same for a set up 8.8 as well.

Oh, also I would have to travel about 300 miles to get the D44.
