No pitman arm is needed for an add-a-leaf. And I seriously doubt you'll be happy with an add-a-leaf.
I would say 3" or more is pitman arm territory.

the price is what got me. the add a leaf is only 310 but it doesnt look complete i didnt see a pitman arm
im trying to go cheap and easy with the lift but i want to do it right to avoid future problems

couple things (rollmeoverplease), but let me start by saying that yer last post was by far the longest sentence i have ever seen.
if you go ahead wit a 2" kit, ican almost guarentee you gunna wanna go to a 4" kit within about 2 weeks of having it bolted on, simply because of the message your "avatar" and "user name" portray.
also, black diamond is one of many suspensions ta choose from for yer rig, what drew you to this particular kit?
although with a 2" kit, it should be a relatively easy install, as i don't think ya gotta touch (steering)

|Coyote_94YJ||I think the only thing you'll need for a 2" kit is the 2" kit. Nothing else. Maybe a drop pitman arm. It is all bolt up fun.|

|rollmeoverplease||i dont have a lift but im looking at them im kinda new to the jeep world and love my jeep i have always liked them and now i have one i was also wondering if you have to do alot of changes with a 2" lift kit or if all the parts are there and its just a bolt up and go i was looking at the Black Diamond add a leaf kit from Quadratech|

|Coyote_94YJ||Well its not a bad idea to change gears....It's just a bad idea to do it for mpg. It is a good idea to change gears for wheelin or crawlin or when you up size your tires.|

I don't think its wise to change gears for fuel economy in a jeep...
Lets say for the sake of round numbers you currently get 15mpg and the gear change nets you 5mpg (although 2-3 is more likely) so now you would get 20mpg. On a 20 gallon tank your now able to go 400 miles per tank instead of 300 miles so your gaining 100 miles per tank. The national average for regular is $1.78 so it costs you $35.60 to fill up(20 gal tank). Your saving 1 tank of fuel for every 4th fill-up so your saving $35.60 for every 4 fill-ups. That's a savings of $35.60 for every 1600 miles (400 miles per tank times 4 fill ups). A ring and pinion swap by a reputable shop (parts/labor included) will cost about $1000. So to find out how far you have to drive to break even find the amount of times $35.60 goes into $1000.... 1000/35.6=28.09 Now take that $28.09 and multiply it by the 1600 miles to get how many miles you would have to drive to get a savings of $1000. That is 44944 miles to break even. That same math done out with a 2.5mpg savings equals 58989 miles.
The average person drives 12000 miles per year(WikiAnswers.com) so at 5mpg you would break even after 3.75 years, at 2.5mpg that's 4.91 years to break even.

do you have a lift?
your wasting your time/money.
just to save gas? ....bad idea.
you are looking at $500 parts
another 500 hunj if ya cant install gears, im guessin ya cant, not many people try and tackle that.
and why now! gas is at an alltime low!

I'm thinking of changing my gear ratio to improve for better gas mileage. Does any one have suggestions for what to change to. I know that it kinda defeats the purpose of the ruggedness, but I like the fact of saving money.
