Different direction

As you know, I was planning on putting the 8.8 and a SOA but things have changed. I have an insane, very talented young nephew whom is building my 383 stroker. (He is in the process of building a mega truck) He has convinced me to put 1 ton axles under the yj. Good thing is I can sell the 8.8 for the same price as a 14 bolt rear. The front axle will be either a Dana 60 (not cheap $) or next best would be a 44 out of a 78-79 f250.

This should be fun....thanks for reading and my computer is shot, I'm updating on my wife's iPad. She's at work!

daddyjeep I hear ya there scoob. Thanks for the up date at least. Glad you are still with us.

Scooby88 It's still going, cash flow is going elsewhere.

Scooby88 Sorry I haven't been on in awhile, my computer took a crap. Not much to report. Keep on Jeeping!!

rockshaker I'm pretty much in the middle of this same build...350,700r4, but rams head block hugger headers. Last night I figured out the whole where is my TC shifter at. I am trying to mock in my motor mounts and make sure the tranny lines up. Not sure how to handle the whole TC shifter thing. Looking like it may be time to either cut a new place for the TC shifter or make some kind of new bracket. Good luck...nice build.

Rosebud83 I put a sbc 350 from a 94 pickup. The fuel pump will work for the 350. I dont remember which wires r for what. But I can tell u that 1 wire is positive (I think, its been a while since I worked on mine), the other is to run the pump and the 3rd is for fuel gauge.

I'm not gone

It's been awhile since I Posted. The workload at work has became insane, They got me doing production tooling design along with making prototype tooling and parts. So the YJ build suffers. I've done small stuff but nothing to report....Keep Jeepin......

Build is still going....

The build is still going, just a lot of other things going on also. As for the YJ, Fuel lines, electrical, I can't find the shifter and linkage for the transfer case. I need a different power steering pump, one I bought doesn't line up.

I could go on and on but I won't

I did pick this up to haul it when it's done along with hauling wood to sell.

Scooby88 The hose's I got are Gates,#20827 upper and #20702 lower. They only needed a little trimming. I also got some exhaust extensions so the mufflers will clear the body mounts on the frame. I'll try and get pictures up tomorrow night.

Side note: looking to buy this bad boy.

Back on it!

Ok, I'm back on it. Got side tracked...the Tracker quit and its too dam cold out to work on so I had to get my daughter another ride.

I just placed an order with Jegs, header collectors, air cleaner, power steering bracket, radiator hoses and a new hat!

Time to get back to work.... and take pictures.....

daddyjeep Glad you are back scoob. I am dealing with my own wiring issues. Just keep plugging away. Any of the diagrams I find for the wrangler are less than thorough. I have read where you can use the stock pump with a regulator, I have no experience with this to offer.

Back at it!

Diggin in again, any tips on using the stock fuel pump to a fuel pressure regulator to feed a sbc? I narrowed it down to the 3 wires but what is what? (and thanks for your thoughts guys)

kywaterman Sorry for your loss Scoob. Mine is at a stand still as well. The longer it takes us is just more time to enjoy working on them.
12-19-2013 07:06 PM
daddyjeep Sure, make me feel like an ass. Sorry to hear about your loss. I will be waiting patiently until you start working again. My build is taking forever too, life just always seems to get in the way.

Scooby88 Sorry for the lack of updates.... Had a death in the family and I've been taking care of my mother. The build will start back up soon.

WICruiser Ky - you sure got that one right. Seems like I take 1 step forward and three back when all the other things don't prevent me from even making a step.

kywaterman Its all the little things that take time, glade to see your still working on it.

Motors back in!

Got it in yesterday, bolting the torque converter up right now. Trying to decide what to start next. Electrical, fuel, trans lines and I have to change the gas/brake pedals.

Any tips on what you have used in this swap for gas/brake pedals?

It's been slow but it's going good now. My buddy just came over to check out the trans and it's good to go, no damage done by me!

Gonna try and get the motor back in this week.
