slurpy I don't lock the full doors pretty much year around, just to keep broken glass and cut tops (in the summer) to a minimum. Of course I should add I went Tuffy console, glove box and rear drawer to give me some places to lock stuff up, helpful on the lock re-key thing, I am looking at half doors to add to my 05 unlimited and was wondering about re-keying. although if I never lock them....

This xa lot. I had my TJ broken into and my doors were locked. Needless to say the scumbag cut through my driver side rear window and got away with my awesome Garmin GPS from 2006. I was lucky enough to find all three matching replacement windows on CL for $50 but it was still a pain in the ass. I haven't locked my doors since!

This price was me taking the lock cylinders to the locksmith. It is very easy to pull them with half doors.

Some Farkin Guy TJs have door locks? I never lock mine because anything that can be stolen from inside is cheaper than replacing a cut top. Some thief is going to get a haul of some cheap flashlights and a tire pressure guage, the lucky devil.

DrewG Why not just code the lock cylinders to your key? It's pretty easy to do, just swap the tumblers around until you get it where it turns. Or you could snag a couple of after market ones and re-code them or just use two keys when you have the half doors on.

Insurance. Many insurance companies won't cover a loss if the vehicle is unlocked if it is a possible option. If you are running topless and doorless, they will cover the loss, but if your doors and top are on and unlocked they have an excuse to deny coverage for theft. Silly, IMO.

Slater451 Thank you. As long as its possible. I can figure it out!!!

D2K47 Just swapped mine from a 99 to an 03, from half to full...you have to swap the long thin plastic piece that connects the lock to this plastic piece which pulls the rope to the door handle lock from the inside...you'll see what in talking abouts when you have both locks out, the full doors have a smaller plastic piece then the half doors. Sorry for not being clear about it, im Sure there's a YouTube video on it!

Door key locks??

Are the outer door locks on a set of 97 half doors going to be the same as a set of locks on a set of 06 full doors..... I've got a line on a set of halfs and want to know if the locks can be swapped
