|WeekenderATX||Safari top wrapped around the top of the door surrounds. Nice. Gonna try that, so I can drop in my doors if I wanna.|

Alright, I got this and the header so come spring I'll be set and won't have to buy anything else.
Thanks for all your help! It's very appreciated!

Here is the direct link to Bestop showing that the 52532-35 is the black Safari for an 06.

|Michigunman||I agree on the pictures being confusing. It's showing both the Bikini and the Safari on that link. It's a one piece and not designed to fold around and make a Bikini.|

Thanks for the pictures Dave! I see the difference in the two now.
On a side note, it looks like you have a great place to go drive! Nothing like that around here lol

Ah I saw that but I thought it was a bikini because of the picture
Is that a 2 piece top in that link or can it be folded around to make a regular bikini top? The pictures shown on the page are a little confusing.

^ Like Michigunman, I am lucky to have a garage to park my TJ in. It is mostly a nice weather and trail toy. So, my Safari top stays on the whole summer. The Bestop Safari top also gives you the option of using the factory soft top door surrounds with the rails in the top, or velcro attachments for the sport bar. I like using the door surrounds because it makes the top fit tighter. In case it rains, water does not puddle up and pour down inside the doors. You can also use your doors with the Safari top and the door surrounds and stay warm even in the snow!
Edit: You want the one for a TJ, not an Unlimited. In the pic below are Safari tops on my TJ and my friend's TJ Unlimited Rubi, which is longer.

|Michigunman||You want the one that covers the back seat too, right?|

No, that's not going to fit. I think you want this one.

Ok that makes sense. I live in apartments right now so I don't have a garage. I figure if it's going to rain I can throw the doors on it and put it under the carports. Wait, who am I kidding, I live in Texas. It doesn't rain here! LOL
One more quick question. I realized a few minutes ago that the top I was looking at was for an '04-'06 Unlimited and Amazon doesn't carry Safari tops for a regular Jeep. Mine is an SE. So will that fit?

|Michigunman||Yeah, you bolt the header on. Then semi-loosely attach the back straps to add some resistance. The front of the Safari goes over and into a channel in the front of the header. There are some good posts and links on the installation here if you search around. Luckily I leave mine on all summer and park in the garage. Not something I would want take on and off a lot. Of course I guess you would get better at it with practice.|

Ok thanks! It'll be next spring before I use it so I won't have to worry about installing it for awhile lol
How does it attach to the header? Does it go over the top of it and attach to the front? The video didn't show this.
|12-08-2012 03:48 PM|
|Michigunman||Yeah, I have an 03 so have the same header. The Safari can be a pain to get on, but follow the instructions and keep some tension at the rear, that will help.|

I have a 2006 with a factory soft top. I actually found a video from bestop a couple minutes ago about all their headers and I'm gonna have to get the header.
The header for my soft top looks nothing like the one they showed.

|Michigunman||If you are talking about the header that is integrated in to your factory soft top, yes I believe you will need the Bestop header to go with the Safari. What year is your TJ? There are two types, one for 97-02 and a different one for 03-06.|

Safari Top Header
I searched this forum and couldn't find the answer to this, so here goes.
I'm gonna get a Safari top for my Jeep and I know it requires a header for the winshield. I already have a soft top so will the Bestop Safari top work with the current header I have, or do I need to buy a different one?
