|UFOtestpilot||I also recently experienced the "not enough juice to run everything" issue. The starter was pulling everything left in my old battery. However, it sounds as if you can crank it over endlessly so perhaps power isn't the issue here.|

All in all, the things I replaced were things I wanted to swap out anyway (121k on the odometer), so it all worked out.

|Throwmorepartsatit||Look under the xmission for a loose cps. Has a wire harness, two strand going to it, on the drivers side i think, almost up to the bell housing. Might have come loose.|

|97TealJ||Have your battery tested. My 97 had similar symptoms and the battery turned out to have a bad cell. I also had to press the gas pedal down to help it start. Perhaps the battery isn't supplying enough power to run everything. Most parts stores will test it for free.|

|Bleaubailey||Awesome, I'll see what that will do! What exactly is the tps by the way?|

|tallzdatank||could also be a tps malfunction. see if you can get hold of an el cheapo scanner that could tell you what your tps is doing. if you cant then the fuel pressure is another good place to start.|

|brokejeep||Just because the fuel pump is running doesn't mean its making the right amount of fuel pressure to run correctly. Had the same issue on a s-10 blazer the other day. Put a pressure gauge on it & only about 40 psi. It needs 60 psi to run right. New pump & problem fixed. I don't know the proper fuel pressure for the jeep but maybe someone else can tell you.|

99 Wrangler 4L will crank but won't start
I'm fairly new with my Jeep so I probably will sound... special haha.
Today I drove my Wrangler around for a while, parked it at home, came out 4 or 5 hours later to drive it again and now all of a sudden when I turn the key it just cranks and cranks. The check engine light comes on after I'm cranking it for a couple seconds but then goes away once I stop. When I move the key to position two I think I here my fuel pump engage, I don't know exactly what its supposed to sound like but I hear something like a faint ERRRN for a second or two then it goes away and it does it again whenever i move the key back to position two.
I've tried throttling while turning the key and it sorta kicks over and the engine revs up but simply dies when I let go of the pedal. I'm not sure if its good to do that or not but I did, so if its bad then somebody tell me!
I've been surfing the web all over and the most common things people have came across is the ECM/ECU going bad and replacing that, the spark plugs not working, steering column wiring is messed up and or the fuel system isnt functioning.
If anybody could help me narrow my problem down it would be much much appreciated! Otherwise I think I might just have to bring it into a Shop and just hope they can fix it :/
