Wombat Ranger Thats a sweet seat setup.

95YamJam Latest project code named: Project over kill rear seat install, or Project turret mount m60. Not sure yet. lol!
Anyway the idea thinking ahead to a "real" roll cage and tieing the front seats into it made me think of this. How would i tie the rear seat for my son to the cage too? Well really it does not have to be tied to the cage as long as it's tied into the fram it would be virtually the same.
I picked up another cavalier seat from the take a part. I just wanted one good seat in the back with neck and head support. The factory rear bench seat totally blows for anyone having to set in it anyway. Also i wanted more storage for gear and junk when on the trails.
This is what ensued.... lol

The red tote fits in good but eventually i will have a tool box mounted there. Not sure if i am gonna make that or buy it yet. Also I am 6'2" and i can fit back there now pretty darn good. I could put in some hours in that seat for sure if i had too...

No write ups. With the tool box I made a cardboard template as posted in the pics. I then laid it out on 1/8th in plate. Where ever it bends I scored it. Bent it. Then welded it up.

The sliders are angle Iron. 5" tall 3 to 3" wide. The bar part is 1 1/4" square tube. U just laid out what I wanted and welded it up.

Glad you like them! Thanks!

Gonna keep the stock shafts and cad for now. Gonna see how far I can push them.

Wombat Ranger Halfway through this thread I updated my craigslist ad for my like new 35's for sale. Added "will trade for MIG welder." Haha.

Very cool build.

95YamJam Well, it's been a while. All is well with the jeep. I found a smoking deal on a winch. XRC8 smittybuilt. It was $125 Used. The guy said it would only go one direction and thought it was the realy. Turned out one of the wires was in the wrong spot. So i got it working.

I built a winch plate and added it to the bumer that i had built previously. I also did not like the stock relay box and wanted a way to make power not always be applied to the winch. I built my own box for the realy and a 500cont/1000amp max switch. I also placed it down to the side. I like the low profile of it too. I also recessed the winch fairlead as far back on the front as i could to keep it as much out of harms way as possible. Fianlly i upgraded all of the winch wires to 4ga. It is a bit more stout. Only have a couple of pics right now. I need to oil and spool the line a few more times to get it trained better and need to get stuck to test it properly.

95YamJam Replaced master/slave clutch cylinders today. I had a leak for a while but i the clutch was getting really weak and would randomly loose clutch pressure. Changed both with a new sealed units from napa. Took about and hour ish.

Clutch feels great now.

95YamJam Thanks a lot! The d30 is all stock right now. Locker, better shafts, ujoints, truss is fututre plans. I know I can break it but ill push it and see. Good luck!

OregonPlinker Nice work on the belly up job! I found your build in the tummy tuck thread and your work is inspiring. I like your fenders a lot. I have to make flares on mine cause Oregon sucks like that. Im still in the parts collecting stage... Your D30 is locked up IIRC? Have you up graded shafts on it yet? If so was it cause you busted them or just being proactive? Keep up the good work man!

95YamJam I got the rims and tires from a local dude for $500. They are not hub centric but i made hub rings to make them hub centric. Other than that they are great and were cheap. I sold my 5 32" bfg's for $900.

AZdevilYJ Any update on this beast!!?
02-04-2013 07:14 AM
95YamJam It's riddler. I smoothed off the logo and also machined all the holes with a flat land. Then paint.

02-04-2013 12:33 AM
AZdevilYJ What diff cover is that? U smooth out a riddler or is that home-brewed? Either way that skull is tits.

They are tied into the frame in 3 places. They will also be hooked to eachother under the hood with a removable bar. They are also bolted to the rock sliders. The sliders will be tied to the frame as well with the roll cage frame supports. She should be able to take a beating.

Thanks! I like the square too, you just don't see it used that often. I'd do a square roll cage if they sold square DOM. LOL! It kinda fits the square boxy-ness of the yj too IMHO.

Plus it's super cheap, $.35 a pound, and easier to work with than round sometimes.

95YamJam They are done. No flares. We have no fender laws here. Thanks!
02-02-2013 01:03 AM
daddyjeep The fenders turned out great. Are they done or do you still need to add a flare of some kind?
01-31-2013 08:52 PM
95YamJam More...

I have a lot more pics to go thru and figure out. I'll get them up as soon as i can.

95YamJam I am looking for a good donor truck. I want the wiring, ecu, trans... all of it. I'll part, discard or scrap what i don't need. Ideally i'd like a 6.0l but they are just harder to find. The little 327 will do me great!

I have been bad about updating this thread...

I have done some work. Here is the stuff i have for now. Front fender work and new wheel paint scheme, riddler diff cover painted for the 8.8 too IIRC.
