I really doubt more or changing RA oil will make any difference. There is nothing in the spiders, ring or pinion that squeeks. Dana 44's are great RA's, I have many in my old classic cars.
Do you hear this noise when you first accelerate from a stop? or is it constant at low speeds? Do you feel any vibrations?
I had a squeaking noise when accelerating from a stop that a few weeks later led to a vibration. I found one of my original not grease able 'U' joints had gone bad.

|doclouie||Glad to have people like you from all over the world on the forum. If you just change out the spiders you should not encounter any noise. Keep it on the street, but from what you have described they will blow apart all the way sooner than later. Just changing out the spider gears would be cheapest too.|

Yup im from mexico I'm sorry my cousin put that for me and of course he doesn't speaks english very well so do I.
Thanks for all your help, i think I'm gonna use it just a little bit more like that but only on the street until i find a new wrangler or at least the spider gears.
But my main concern is if i change the spider gears will it make noise?

Rule #1 if it's bad change it now, better than being stranded later
I had to replace my spider gear set, very, very easy to do, it takes longer putting the oil back in.
I lost enough teeth on my left axle gear, I was stranded and towed her home. Never off road, 4.0 - 5 speed, stock tires. The RA is just a bit light for the job.

|97jeep4||I just changed my front and rear, D30/D35 ring and pinion and carriers. They are 3.07 ratio, still in good shape spiders and all. If they work for you, or your interested in them let me know and I'll work up a good deal for you.|

|98 tj sport||Well this is all to familier I currently have my d35 tore apart in the garage shafts out and carrier out because my spiders are trash as well, messed them up playing in the rocks, anyway I just ordered my rebuild stuff, just to get it back on the road cuz I don't have the cash to upgrade right now was planning on starting to build an 8.8 after taxes and I still plan on doing so, I just wish the 35 would have waited to break till I built the 8.8. I wish u luck my friend, check on cl maybe u can find one close to u, and then u would have a spare set of shafts and c clips, I tried but all I can find is d35s out of xjs.|

|Coffindaffer||X2 on replacing. I had the same issue on my powerstroke and didn't replace and ended up breaking everything which came to a grand total of 1900 with me doing it myself. So yes spend the money now and save yourself some time an money later on down the road|

Is your Dana 35 an open carrier or Trak-loc limited slip? This is important to know as the side and spider gear kits are different for each.
Open 35 is about $90
For the Trak-Loc... you get new spiders, sides and clutches for around $190

Maybe upgrade to a super 35 if you can afford it, just don't be brutal and it should be ok. I have a D35, it's ok so far, but I will do a super 35 before going big bucks for a serious rear axle. Best of luck,

|darkproximity||They're called side gears and spider gears, and yes I'd change them out lest you have a catastrophic failure when it's most inconvenient. The dana 35 already survives solely on hopes and dreams to begin with, and it sounds like it's dreams are all gone and all it has are hopes|

Well today i was fixing my jeep 98 4cil 5spd 123k miles, changing oil cleaning normal maintenance when i realize that my diffs were never open (well i haven't never opened to see oil level an quality) i open the front d30 normal oil level yellow color nice smell well normal xD, then the dana 35 i open the rubber plug and then the nightmare black oil with metal on it.
knowing mechanic's i open it to see what was wrong ring a pinion are in rally good shape nothing bad about that.
But then the planetary gears, the passenger side was only on normal wear upper and lower planetary really wear down, and the driver size gear its really wear down and when i turned to see every teeth i realize that one of the teeth is missing a little piece like a 2mm completely broken. after 1 hour of searching of the missing piece i was unable to found that so i think the previous owner was who did that damage and maybe he took the piece out. or maybe all the metal that i found on the oil was the missing piece?, the magnetic strip only had almost nothing of metal.
my dad (mechanic) suggest me to clean everything out and put new oil because its not all the teeth and it shouldn't make a big trouble.
my question is should i change the planetary gears? all the diff assembly? all diff?
now i only cleaned everything out and put new oil.
but should i change something? i don`t want to put a lot of money because im planing to buy a rubicon, but i also want a reliable DD without the noise of a worn out diff.(now it doesn't make any sound)
the jeep is my DD, and my WW. i never do nothing extreme only small rock crawling, light sand, dirt, mud, maybe snow this year.
what do you think?
