I'd like to have the 35's on but with the 4cyl I know for a fact that I will have to re-gear. but I'm trying to plan ahead with the now very restrictive budget for the jeep. I've got a set of 35's at home but they are off a hummer with 17" wheels and I don't know if I want 17's. I have the 2" pucks (well at least 2 of them, the shop that installed my 4" lift discarded the other two I think.) and I have a 1" BL already, thinking of also doing the 1" MML for the hell of it.
So open axle, ok got that. I really haven't had the time to go up wheelin lately so ya its gonna be about 90/10.
That is the gear company I was thinking about going with, and yes I'm going to have a shop do it so I'll just talk to him about it.
So what I got out of this is get the 35's regear both diffs and put the pucks back on...
anything else I'm missin? what about shocks, do I need longer ones if I'm doing the pucks again?

Good to see you again. Here's some short answers to your questions.
You need standard rotation for both axles.
If you plan on putting your jeep in 4wd then yes you need to gear both diffs at the same time and yes they both need to be the same.
I'm not a big fan of the D35 at all and definitely not spending the money to re-gear it. However if that's what you have to work with then so be it. If you leave that axle open and don't put a locker in it and the majority of your driving is street and I'm talking 90/10 then it should probably last for you.
Yukon is probably the best gear in my opinion setup wise. However if you are planning on having it done by a shop you might want to get the gears from them so there isn't any problem with warranty issues if the gears don't setup right.
Might as well put the 35's back on.

Seriously on tire size if I had it to do over i would go with 35's (tires
)with a D35 rear it's only luck of the draw, I know people with 37's on D35's and wheel with no probs
. I aslo know of several who has broken shafts while driving on the street with 33's.
With 4" of lift 35" tires would be tight so if you have the spacers I say use them if not a 1" body lift might do the trick.
And last I would re gear both ends at the same time unless you don't mind disconnecting one DS and driving 2 wheel drive for a while. only my 2 cents worth.

Back from the dead... Gearing ???'s
hey guys finally back on the forum, been workin too much to get on here at all lately! I do have some questions that hopefully you can help with.
An update from my last posts first. I got the SYE and DS all done finally after a horrible experiance from PORC (performance off road center). the short and quick story is I have two DS's now... lifts done, and just working out some small bugs...
Now for the questions:
I wanna do gears and tires, going to be looking at 33" tires (maybe putting the 2" spring spacers back on and running the 35's with my D35 don't know yet) as of right now 33's. I'm looking at getting 4.88 gears for the rear D35.
1. Do I need Standard or reverse rotation?
2. Do I need to re gear my D30 at the same time as the D35?
a. if I do should I run the same gearing (4.88) as the rear?
3. Can I go to 35's with the D35 geared at 4.88? or would it be too much?
4. What gear company should I go with?
5. Should I put the 2" spacers back on and try 35's?
6. Anything else I'm forgetting other than the master install kit?
