|rbkelley89||Pics id like to do a an enginr skid too was that the easy part. Yeah I should have had it drill pressed and slotted out but I was trying to rush with the install.|

|Deadman Walking||Just finished installing a Barnes 3" t-case skid plate and a Rokman engine/trans skid and the results came out great. I wanted a bolt on, wasn't interested in changing trans mounts or dimpling the body to make something fit and I sincerely doubt 1" of clearence is going to effect my ability to get up and over obstacles. I might have been able to use the 2" drop skid plate, but I wanted something strong and as smooth as possible. The Barnes does not come with the trans mount holes predrilled to I took it to a machinist, along with the stock plate and they did a great job slotting the new skid. So the only work I had to do was drill two 3/8" holes to allow the Rokeman to bolt to the barnes. Both are well made and I sincerely doubt I'll run into any real issues when wheeling.|

Today i drove the heep for the first time in 3 months ugh that was brutal feeling like i could never get enough time to get this project finished. Now its not finished lol but i had it in gear and that was amazing. Got it up to 50!!
I will need to get some pics when its bright out which might be a few days but here is what i did.
1" BD mml
flat belly skid - still needs to be countersunk
New stocker transfer case mount
jb ss sye
currie adj rear uppers (greased)
RE adj lowers (found local) (greased)
RE angled rear track bar (Still needs top hole drilled and Bolt tightened)
Novak shifter cable.
TW double cardian with extra clearencing 22 degree angle 22" long were the measurements i ordered with. cycled suspension and didn't have any binding.
New tranny and tcase fluid with tranny filter.
Things i need to do.
Lengthen front ds
replace rear shocks, dumbass forgot to remove them while adjusting pinion angle.
relocate shock mount (? on this)
Where can i get a good mount to do this and or can i reuse the stock one just cut it off and re angle it? And when i do get new shocks is it okay to put the tube side on top and have the moving part on the bottom i remembered reading that some of them it doesn't matter the orientation.
Also did doing a tt change the the feel much or should i just replace these shocks before looking into other things. then look at the ds angle and the track bar and the ca's. How much will a drive train move because it is real close to the tub and might be causing slight vibrations.
Anyways thanks so much for everyone's help couldn't have done it without you all

|rbkelley89||No worries lol I was dumb heard it making noise and just kept crankin the jack. From that point pinion to pinion it measures 23" does this sound about right and would I be safe to order my driveline using this length|
|11-04-2012 05:06 PM|
hahahahaha sorry man be safe!
|11-04-2012 04:32 PM|
|rbkelley89||the drive line length from this measurement yoke to yoke measures out to 23"|

Hey thanks for the ratchet strap idea. I got the track bar on easy with that method and everything seems to be out if harms way. Now the control arms and pinion angle. Are a different story. I need to go a bit steeper but my control arms do not have the length to go more. They are advertised for 4-6 in lifts I have a 4. I believe when I rotate the pinion the axle despite being in the air moves farther towards the rear. Trued the ratchet strap again but it snapped and flung the hook right over my head haha. The middle pic is of the track bar bracket that the top tab is not flush with the axle bracket

|TnDz TJ||Any luck yet? One good idea from previous post is to remove your coils and hook it back up and reinstall your coils.|
|11-04-2012 08:21 AM|
If it's just an angle problem, raise or lower the axle (coils out, CA's still attached), that movement will rotate the pinion angle some, maybe enough to get it in there.
|11-04-2012 12:22 AM|
|TnDz TJ||It's very possible to not have enough angle on the bracket with a flat skid. You may need to cut and relocate the bracket on the axle tube or get a rear track bar with heim joints.|

|rbkelley89||Im having so much trouble getting the track bar back on. Part of it is because even with my pinion angle set, the track bar bracket on the axle is not the right angle as the frame bracket. My pinion angke even needs to be steeper than most with ucf skids because my skid is flat with the frame rails so this doesnt make sense. The track bar has red bushing so I think it came with the rc lift the po put on.I flipped it around and it fit much better exept it rubbed against the tank skid and when setting the pinion angle ended up lifting the jeep so I flipped it back over and can not get it to alight even while rotating the pinion. Help!!! My thoughts are the track bar bracket is not correct after reading stu's write up about differences in rubicon express brackets from years because the top tab is not flush with the axle bracket even when the bottim half of it is. Also my currie adjustable control arms seem to be too short. It may be again because I went flat belly. Ahhh im loosing it|

|rbkelley89||Okay thank you and for the angled track bar bracket that goes on last|
|10-26-2012 08:22 PM|
No....leave your track bar alone. if you take it out, you may not get it back in unless you have an adjustable trackbar and angle rear CV track bar bracket.
As you jack the pinion, your axle will roll back a bit... its ok... the angle will change as you jack it.
|10-26-2012 04:47 PM|
|rbkelley89||Any advice on the pinion angle change and the track bar bracket.remived the upper control arms and Started to jack up the rear axle pinion and the car started to roll back but I didnt notice the angle changing it looked like the car was being lifted up. keep jacking? Track bar is still connected btw take this off too until the arms are in!!?|

|rbkelley89||Just noticed those are upside down I will get better pics|

So far 1" brown dog mml, jb ss sye, barnes 1/4 flatbelly skid. New tc fluid and trans filter and fluid. Now I just need to rotate the pinion and set the adjustable from currie and out in the angled trackbar bracket

OK... Just installed my LoPro mount....
I have a 1.25" BL
Extra Clearance UCF skid
among the adj. Control arms, SYE etc....
with the stock mount I had to drop the skid 1/2" to stop vibes ( severe angle )
LoPro installed and no vibes at all.... Shift linkage is almost lined up perfect with no bind and smooth shifting and doesn't pop out at all.
I did have to elongate the trans mount bracket holes to the rear to allow clearance on the skid by moving it forward. I move it forward about 1/4" and it fit perfect.
Pretty happy with it didn't have to do the hanger mod for the exhaust.... it's not bound up or tight and nothing hits anywhere..
|10-10-2012 03:49 PM|
I cannot see 1.5" difference in your front shaft since the angle is not anywhere near the angle of the rear... and my rear only extended 3/4" with a TT and stock mount. Make sure you have extended the slip on it? Just checking....
|10-10-2012 03:42 PM|
And I have to use the stock tranny mount because the ucf lo pro does not work with the 2001 4 cylinder for some reason
|10-10-2012 07:21 AM|
The hanger that is part of the t-case bracket is cut in half ( between the two holes in the the bracket ) drill the holes to 1/2" and bolt them up... apparently this is all that is needed to make the exhaust clear everything... I will let you know... my mount should be here soon... I hope... ordered it Sunday.
|10-10-2012 01:49 AM|
|rbkelley89||No one mentioned if have to lengthin in my front drive shaft|
|10-08-2012 10:53 AM|
|rbkelley89||What did everyone do to midify the exaust hangers?|
|10-04-2012 02:11 PM|
I like this picture.....figured this is a good spot for it.
|10-04-2012 01:56 PM|
|DevilDogDoc||If your asking me I used my stock trans mount and no Mml. I need the mount lift though my fan shroud is a wreck....|
|10-04-2012 10:48 AM|
|rbkelley89||So did you reuse the tranny mount. The instructions for my brown dog mml said it would waste them but I'm sure that was for stock setup if someone wasn't going to lift the tranny up along with the mml lijebi am|
|10-03-2012 10:30 PM|
Not totally flat but better than the stocker I was running with a TC drop.
|10-03-2012 10:01 PM|
|rbkelley89||Had to impact gun it off at my shop at work. Another question I just put my mml on about to put the jb short shaft transfer case back up and was wondering if I should reuse my stick tranny mount or what I can replace it with|
|09-26-2012 11:27 PM|
|rbkelley89||How did everyone get the bolt off to remove the flange from the transfer case going to the front drive line with the 1 &1/8th bolt. I do nit have an impact driver and tried with breaker BaRs and leverage just snapped the breaker bar.|
