snwchris I would definately say D60s front/rear otherwise use the Moog Portals, since then you would only need like a 3-4" lift kit.

Diesel enginer, either the CRD like the Grand other wise a Cummings diesel (6) to keep the weight down.

G-Pur I like the idea of dual front fender mounted 40 caliber fully automatic machine guns to help clear the traffic, er... I mean brush from your path.

Agreed. D60/60 or D60/14B. Even it is made as an available upgrade.
For that matter, have options to include:
- wheelbase
- full width
- tire selection
- etc.

Dunno...I'm on the fence on this one. Would be nice to just press a button, but part of the joy's of a Jeep is the ruggedness of it. Of course, would REALLY be nice for those whose rides are tall enough that they can't reach the top.....

Trouble is that Jeeps are too customizable. People build them for their own needs. What might be best is to look at all the categories out there (rock crawlers, mud boggers, mall crawlers, barbie jeeps, etc), find what is common between all of them and offer that. Then have factory upgrade paths down the different categories.

Dunno. Interesting question. Post up your final result when you complete it.

Oh! Since it'll be available in 2020...make it hover!

rkwfxd Fender/wheel-well clearance for 40's from the factory or with minimal mods.

Factory cage - not another sport bar

Push the front axle forward and the rear axle back as far as possible to improve approach/departure angels.

FLAT skid plate / belly

Boat side rockers

Mirrors attached to body so doors can be removed and still be legal

How about removable door skins with tube doors underneath?

4 wheel disks - big strong brakes to stop a 3 spd t-case 2:1/4:1/6:1

5.0 straight six - EFI

5spd manual is fine

F and R axles with removable 3rd member like a Ford 9"

I think it still needs to seat four.

Flush tail lights

Factory rock lights

Factory fogs up by the windshield

scottrock Here are a few ideas of mine:

1. CTIS! Constant Tire Inflation System

I remember the military cargo trucks I used to drive years back had air systems that you could control from the cab, letting you air down (OR UP) with the push of a button.

2. It's been mentioned already but IMO rear steer would ROCK! Especially for a longer wheelbase vehicle like the JK Unlimited.

3. Phnumatic (or hydraulic) suspension system for a dynamic lift. ( I have no idea how this would actually work) BUT imagine rolling with 2" of lift on the street, hit the trail, mash a button and BAM you got 6" of lift!

Hmmm, gears are turning now

wavebacktothetj Stock full factory roll cages, and disconnecting windshield (so you can have added protection and visibility) and perhaps an internal snorkel using the side roll bar, all this should be the 2020 Rubicon package

chesterspl Whatever it is, keep the engine design simple. I hate working on a car where they wedge some complicated motor in with butter and a shoehorn. I like the jeep motors b/c they are basic and easy to get to.

memphismike IMO there isn't much you could do asthetically, it does have to look like a Jeep afterall. I do agree that it needs real bumpers, fenders and side protection. Powerwise the Wrangler needs a motor that has tons of low end torque be it diesel or gas. Making the D44 the standard axle and having a D60 as an option would be cool too. Really the best way to get ideas is to look around and see what folks change on the current models.

Fichoto awesome! thank you for your suggestions guys...keep them coming if you have more. I definitely think a retractable soft top and 4-wheel steering are intriguing ideas. I really want to make it little more aggressive looking too. How do you feel on making it smaller,perhaps even making it a one-seater?...even like a buggy but keeping the jeep heritage?

dogsnhorses No bling. Like said above, it ain't a hummer but then, the new hummers aren't hummers either IMO.
The front seat on the two door needs to flip up like the older models and make it easier for the rear passenger to get in. Not totally crucial but I had to ride in the backseat one day and my old fat ass had a heck of a time getting in and out while waiting for my fumbling hubby to figure out how to move the seat forward so I could!

Sb5551 Deisel is a definate. Get rid of the cheap axles also a definate. Looking at the JK stop adding all the plastic. A real front bumper goes a long way.

Soft tops are a must, jeep always had them and always will.

1BLKJP How about improved turning radius by adding in factory rear steer axles like GM did in some of the trucks. I'd also like to see the stock Wrangler be built with about a 100" wheelbase.

Next generation fueling and re-generation system that still keeps trail functionality. Maybe something where the turning of the driveshafts can generate electricity for the vehicle providing an endless power supply.

jpdocdave i say a soft top that automatically folds down. or a way that a hard top can be lowered off the jeep with the on board bracketry. hard tops are hard to remove by yourself.

factory on board air and welder
factory tool boxes, kinda like work trucks built in.
winch is mandatory

I am an automotive design student, and I am designing a Wrangler for the year 2020. I need your honest opinion on what you like/dont like/wish your Jeep had....and dont be afraid to be creative with your suggestions! This is the time to spill out all your wishes for what you want your future Wrangler to look like. I really want to create the ideal me do so.
