|theCollector||I use royal purple grease in my Lincoln grease gun. Not easy to tell if it helps any since the payoff will take a long time to see. But it isn't much more money and as infrequently as I need to use it, I feel ok spending the bucks on it.|

When I purchased my 2003 last year with 47000 miles on it, I took it to Airpark Jeep here in Phoenix and had the follow maintenance service performed. Some of this service was performed due to mileage and the other the age.
Changed oil and filter in auto trans, changed fluids in front and rear diff and transfer case. Flushed and installed new radiator coolant with a new pressure cap and changed the fan belt. They tuned up the engine and installed a new air filter.
I changed my engine oil, filter and greased the steering, plus silicon-ed all of the undercarriage rubber bushings/grommets.
I also had new tire installed from Discount tire.
The previous owner had just replaced the brakes and battery.
If you follow these guidelines then your jeep should be up to speed maintenance wise.
I also had Airpark change my rear engine oil seal, hopefully your's is not leaking.
Mine got a double oil change, because when they changed the rear seal they installed new oil, but I still drained it and put in the brand of oil with a new filter that I prefer, Valvoline 10w30 conventional oil.

For your 6-speed transmission, Redline MTL, Royal Purple Synchromax, and Amsoil Synchromesh are good lubricants. Personally, I'd use Redline MTL which you can get from www.summitracing.com
Use ATF in the transfer case. Literally any type of ATF is fine inside the transfer case but one of the best choices would be ATF+4.
For the axles, nearly any good quality GL-5 gear lube viscosity is fine. 80W-90 or 75W-90 is a good all-around viscosity, or use something like an 80W-120 or 85W-140 if you tow a trailer. If you have a Tracloc limited slip differential, make sure the back of the gear lube container says words to the effect of 'Compatible with limited slip differentials' which means it has the friction modifier additive required by the optional Tracloc LSD which you may or may not have. If you don't know, it's ok to use a gear lube with the additive even if you don't have Tracloc. Valvoline, Havoline, Mobil, Mobil-1, Castrol, Pennzoil, etc. would all be good choices. The exact viscosity is not critical, anything close to the above recommendations will be fine.
If you want to freshen up your power steering fluid, make sure to use ATF+4. Jeep stopped using power steering fluid in the power steering system in 2002.

I've had my jeep for 4 weeks now and want to change the oil and other fluids.
I'm new to jeeps and haven't been very hands on in the past, but I want to start learning with this jeep. What fluids should I change and any recommendations on type?
