Likes: I am the 6th (gasp!) owner of my Jeep. The 4th owner built it up a bit. There were Pro Comp ES3000 shocks on the front and either stock or some brand that I am not aware of on the back. 2 days ago, I upgraded the shocks to the Rancho RS9000XL's. Oh, Dear, Lord. Hard to explain the improvement in ride. All driving has been on road, but I've been telling people that I've gone from a bucking bronco to a civilized ride. Best money I've ever spent.
Dis-likes: The previous owner put on the coil spacers, which is not ideal. I'd like to get some 2" OME springs sometime in the near future.
Would You Recommend: Um, hell yes. There is a magazine called "Overland Journal" that did a comparison test of the big players in off-road aftermarket shocks including my Rancho's, Old Man Emu, Bilstein, and Fox as well as a couple others that escape me at the moment. The Rancho's were the hands down winner of the test having won nearly ever category measured. That's what sold me on these shocks as well as their adjustability. By the way, I have them set at 5, the middle setting, per the Overland Journal recommendation. I have not been off-road with them yet, but if the on-road quality is any indication, I'm sure they will do splendidly.

I purchased a ProComp 2inch lift with shocks and springs about four months ago. This lift kit comes with Es3000 shocks. After installation I ended up with a little over 3 inches in the back and had to add a .75 spacer in the front to try and level it out. What I thought would be a budget minded small lift was not cheap. The shocks that come with it (Es3000) are sh*^ and three inches of lift caused drive line vibration and I had to buy a 1in TC drop fro Teraflex to get buy until I can afford an SYE. I returned the es3000 shocks to 4WP and bought Pro-runner shocks. Unfortunately 5100s were on back order. I am now very pleased with the ride of my jeep as it is comfortable enough to drive every day. Tires are 32x11.5r15 bfgs.

I also have the rough country 2.5" lift that came with progressive rate springs, shocks and skid plate drop. I upgraded to jks disconnects and adjustable front track bar. After I did the track bar there was a bit more. Articulation off-road and. Little better ride quality. Would recommend anti-rock sway bar from currie
Pros: has a great ride very smooth off-road fairly easy to install had good directions for install and great customer service.
Cons: don't like the shocks I have replaced the shocks at least 3 times because of failures. Ride quality from the shocks isn't the greatest would go with rancho adjustable. Skid plate drop cause the transfer case lever to squeak so got rid of it put a MML 1" lift in from browndog.

SHOCKS: 10" Fox coilovers on the front, 12" Fox remote reservoirs in the rear, outboarded.
SYE/CVD: Rubicon, so no SYE. Tom Woods driveshaft, cut to fit.
TIRES/WHEELS: 35" MTR/K tires, Hutchinson Rock Monster 15" beadlock wheels.
Likes: All the articulation I can throw at it. Definitely room in the long control arms to grow in to larger tires. Comfortable ride on-road and off-road. Excellent climbing and descent off-road
Dis-Likes: Lower control arms dragged on an obstacle. Has only happened twice in nearly 2 yrs though. Installation required cutting off stock mounts and clearancing transfer case skid to weld new frame side control arm brackets.
Would You Recommend: Yes, for 35 inch tires or larger.

Dis-likes: Zerk fittings on the arms- had to replace some that leaked. Tires are really great for the road but if I had to do it over again, they’d be a bit bigger with more aggressive tread.So far no problem off road, but not a lot of confidence.
Definitely recommended! - It’s a bit pricey but my experience has been you get what you pay for.I did when I got my Currie lift.No disappointments.

I have had my 4 inch short arm lift kit on for almost 10k and have loved every second of it!
My rigs setup now:
-4 Inch Pro Comp Short Arm Lift Kit
-35x12.50 Pro Comp MT2's
-JB conversions super short SYE
-Tom Woods rear shaft
-Currie rear upper adjustable control arms
-Currie heavy duty Johnny joint front track bar
Pros- lift kit comes with almost everything you need from tubular lower control arms, front and rear sway bar links, rear track bar bracket and all related hardware as well as front and rear shocks. Also, has hardware needed for t case drop but recommend getting SYE and rear shaft all in one shot and be done with it. Driving with t case drop was a pain in the arse popping out of gear sometimes.
Cons- ES3000 shocks are not the best but will do for now.
I highly recommend this lift kit to anyone who isn't trying to spend a grand or more for a four inch lift. It's not the smoothest ride but hey some ppl like it a little rough

Kit was an easy install. I fallowed the directions except for un bolting the upper control arms. dprings went in eady after track bars were unbolted. Except for one bent shock and a couple stripped bolts but apparently thats a normal thing. And Pb Blaster works miracles.
CONS: None so far.
PROS: Easy install. So far the ride is smoother than stock even though the springs are new.
I would recomend this kit any day of the week. And I'll give an update a few months from now.

2.5" RC Lift Kit Review 2006 Sport
Rough Country 2.5" Lift Kit. The kit included new coil springs, 2.2 performance shocks, 2.2 steering stabilizer, and a rear track bar relocation bracket. I am not a mechanic so I am learning as I complete these projects. This was a challenge for me.
03/ 10/2014-Post Mortem on the lift install: I got my Jeep back from the alignment shop today. They told me the front axle is 1/2 inch off center, but they were able to align the front end. This took care of the vibration I was experiencing. Mostly an adjustment to the tow of the front tires, no new parts needed. Rough Country told me this would not damage my vehicle. It goes down the road straight with no vibration at 65 MPH. After the install I put two new u joints in the rear drive shaft and that took care of the "feel it in your seat" vibration. I did not have to drop the transfer case. The RC 2.5" Lift Sway Bar Quick Discos, at the factory suggested 10.25" length, do not line up with the supplied disconnected storage brackets, they do however supply better cornering and a more stable ride on pavement than the factory ones. They come with two different mounting options and neither lined up. No big deal.
The RC 2.2 Steering Stabilizer is considerably better than the factory equipment.
General Assessment: The vehicle rides much different, I like it, it is a much stiffer suspension, but may relax over time. The lift also did something I didn't even think about. The lift allows more air to pass under the vehicle on the highway. This creates "buffeting" wind resistance and on windy days it can be a little squirrelly. I have not had the opportunity to test the articulation of the front axle as we still have 5 feet of snow covering everything. I would recommend this kit to others with the suggestions below. A) I hope you have friends. I don't have any friends that are into this Jeep thing so I did it alone. Trying to set the springs and hold the axles down was very difficult.
B) Get the adjustable front track bar.
C) Properly prep your vehicle, power wash the undercarriage and soak the living shit out of every bolt your going to touch with BP Blaster or Liquid Wrench at least overnight.
D) If your new at this like me, invest in good tools, the impact wrench I bought got me through this.

PROS - Complete kit, includes everything needed for a smooth install. Everything bolted up nicely and seems quality built. The lift is height is perfect and really lands you over 4". I paired this with the 1" body lift to insure tire clearance and for additional upgrades down the road. Very happy with the flex, it articulates very well and has proved more than capable for my offroad needs.
CONS - Only one to speak of. As others have stated these are some very stiff springs. I feel evry nook and cranny in the road. I hope with time they will break in.

Likes: Rides much better than stock, Doesn't bottom out when jumping. Very complete kit. Very high quality parts.
Dis-Likes: 3" coils don't seem like quite 3" but I could be wrong. No disconnects included, but that's not a deal breaker. The instructions were kind of oddly worded but were good enough.
Would You Recommend: YES! This kit rides exceptionally well, and is very high quality. Took the abuse of sand dunes and jumps very well. I would recommend this kit for anyone who wants good offroad performance without sacrificing ride quality.

I moved to Colorado since the OP. I live 2hrs from Moab now. Lift has been on for almost 5 years now, and "Thorn" has had the pleasure of doing some cool trails. I have logged around 38,000 miles since install.
First the bad:
1. Those damn bushings. Supposedly RE has resolved the issue but mine were junk. Daystar replacements installed after only 20,000 miles. However easy fix.
2. The drop down belly pan. The thing is IED proof and its a good thing too because its gonna drag.
Really thats it. Otherwise I've found that going long arm really was worth every penny. The RE lift is solid, reliable, rides excellent on pavement, flexes, and feels extremely stable in the rocks.
would I buy it again? .... No.
I would have had M40 build a custom 4 link with coilovers..
Would I recommend this kit? Absolutely.

Likes: The lift didn't hurt the pocket book too much, I figured I might as well spend the extra $ for the adjustable arms. It flexes okay for me and adequately fits 33’s. When I first installed the lift it sat at about 3.5" in the front and 4” in the rear; but I do have a winch up front. Quick disconnect’s work great and tuck nicely out of the way. The performance 2.2s are inverted and the body of the shock is topside; really like them. RC seems to have a bad reputation for a rough ride, but for me, it rides excellent; but it is on the stiff side. Adding the JKS ACOS system leveled her out to 4.25” of lift on the nose. The X-FLEX joints were easy to build and are solid, as are the Adjustable control arms.
Dis-Likes: At times it seemed the directions got ahead of themselves, but as long as you have a basic knowledge of a jeeps suspension system, you’ll figure it out. The Front Track bar relocation bracket was a bastard, I paid $50 for the darn bit, a 29/32 (You won’t find it at your local hardware store). There are extended brake lines included, but for me they are a little too long for a 4” lift, so I did not end up installing them, the stock lines still have plenty of stretch.
Would I Recommend: Absolutely, If you’re looking for a mid-priced lift for moderate off-roading.
The first pic is with the Rancho 2.5" lift, which I would not recommend.

The lift i went with was the RC 3 1/4", consisted of 2.5 progressive springs and 3/4 inch spacers, RC N 2.0 shocks as well as a steering stabilizer.
I have only had the lift on for a little over a week but so far it's great, rides better than it did stock, but then again the old springs had 119,000 miles on them!. It allowed me to fit 33/1250/15 Goodyear Duratrac's, chose these due to the fact that this is my DD and only going to use it for week-end trail rides/moderate off roading with the family.

LIFT : I had a 4" curry short arm lift kit installed on my 2004 rubicon. I had 4wheelers supply in Phoinex do the installation. Best money I spent on my jeep guys worked hard for me and did a great job. I also had the antirock sway bar installed in the front.
SHOCKS: I had Bilstein shocks installed.
TIRES: Procomp 33" by 12.5
LIKES: lift is built stout! Johnny joints are as good as it gets. Springs seem balanced and if I have a couple hundred pounds in the back it rides like a stock jeep on the road. I had 3/4" spacers under the front springs before the installation. These were in place to help support the weight of the added winch. At first we left them in and test drove the jeep after installing the curry lift. It was a no go and we removed them right away.
Dislike: the antirock torsion bar seems soft on the highway also off road when taking turns at a little faster speed. Curry sent me a stiffer torsion bar and it has helped some. I noticed if I have the rear end of the jeep loaded it handles better on and off road. I'm thinking of having the 3/4" spacers installed under the rear shocks to see if that makes a difference. Currently the jeep seems to sit a little high in the front. I did have to add the Cv joint on the rear drive shaft. Stock shafts vibration was greater then I could except.

PROS: I went with this lift kit because I got a very good deal on it, big thanks to RC. The lift was very easy to install, cut 4 upper control arm brackets off, and the rest is a breeze from there. Dropping the axels, cutting the 4 brackets, and installing the lift, took about 12 hours with 2 people. (Having a hydraulic 2 post lift made it 20x faster and easier) The flex is great, you get a lot of travel out of it. & the Jeep drives like a cadillac!
CONS: Exhaust has to be cut and rerouted for the rear upper control arms to fit. The case for the Slip Yoke Eliminator, (that also came from RC) the seal is leaking tranny fluid & has to be replaced.
Overall great lift and I would highly recommend it to anyone!

likes: Very complete kit, all eight control arms adj., drop pitman arm, drop track bar bracket, new adj. track bar for front, track bar relocation bracket for rear, quick disconnects, absolutely no bump steer, about 4.25 inches of lift when installed after 10 months of DD still a little better than 4". Not to hard to install took about nine hours me and one other guy.
Opted for tom woods cv drive shaft rather than tc drop well worth it.
Dislikes: a little stiffer than stock but really not too bad.

Dis-Likes: Which I would have opted for the quick disconnects instead of the set sway bar connects. Other than that, really nothing that I can think of for a dislike.
Likes: Rides smoothly on the road and handles very well going down the highway. The shocks absorb the bumps and potholes on street driving well enough that I can hardly feel it. Off road the tires and lift has enough clearance to get over rocks and another small to medium size obstacles. Definitely not something I would take it to the extreme rock crawling. But for a DD and a weekend warrior, I'd recommend it.

LIFT -6" BDS LONG ARM - 1' BODY LIFT

Been running this lift for 3 yrs now. Came with a lifetime original owner warranty. Bushing popped out of one of the long arms in a mud hole last year. I called up the company and they sent me a complete new arm assembly, no questions asked. Have not had any more trouble.
We don't do much rock climbing down her in the swamp, but it has seen its share of mud holes.
I would recommend this lift to anyone. Customer service is excellent if you need it.

Likes: The lift was cheap, and i was at a budget when i bought it. It flexes out great for me and allows me to fit 33s comfortably. When i first installed the lift it sat at about 3" of lift. Love the SYE, which allowed me to add a tummy tuck skid plate, for extra clearance. Adding Metalcloak fenders really opened up my front end, so their was less rubbing of the tires.
Dis-Likes: After a couple of months the lift began to sag. After 14,000 miles it probably sits at about 2" of lift. The shocks that RC provides are absolutely terrible, and the coils make it a really ruff ride on the road. This isn't my DD so its mostly wheeled, and has performed well off road. The front end sagged a considerable amount when i added the winch (but thats obvious) The Rusty's control arms, im not a fan of. I dont have any complaints about on road driving with them, but off road, their a little restricting on full articulation, they don't flex as well as a Johnny Joint (as expected) And im not a fan of Rusty's bushings.
Would I Recommend: If your looking for a cheap lift for moderate off-roading, then Yes. In my personal opinion i would not by this lift again, too many little problems every now and again. Hopefully looking to get MC 3.5" coils soon, and adding 35s. I haven't seen many user reviews on Metalcloaks coils, but they look pretty reliable on their website reviews. Also looking to get rid of the Rusty's arms, but i think ill wait until i get long arms

Likes: Researched Kits for a full year and all reviews on the RE was good. Purchased from 4X4GroupBuy. Like the way they offer completes kits and the price was really good. Made the mistake of not purchasing the complete kit which contained SYE + CV DS. I later added these items at a much higher cost. Lift looks really cool and performs very well. Have not had a chance to take off-road yet. I replaced all control arms except front uppers. Jeep on the road performs very well and handle curves at upper speed with no problem. The 3.5” kit is really closer to a 4” lift from other vendors. Kit comes with everything needed and parts are built very well and beefy. Easily upgradable. Very pleased with the purchase and install. RE technical support was awesome!
Dis-Likes: Ride a little stiffer than expected but seems to loosen up the more I drive it. Had a problem with a broken grease fitting on one of the Sway Bar Disconnects. Installing the Read Upper control arms made it tough to get the rear track bar re-attached and aligned. Rear sets a little higher than front even with 3/4" front coil spacers. Once I get my rear bumper & Tire carrier installed, this issue may resolve itself.
Would You Recommend: Yes I would highly recommend this kit. Whole lot of bang for the buck!!! Based on my experience, I would highly recommend a kit that includes at least rear adjustable control arms, SYE and CV DS. You will need these extra’s to get rid of the driveline vibration. If you purchase these items with the kit, you will save couple hundred dollars, additional shipping cost, aggravation and some garage time.

I took it in to have the tires balanced. The dealer noticed that one of the tires was cupped a little. Not too much to need replacing but since it was on the front, it may be more noticeable. He also said the tires were really bad out of balance. So after getting them balanced and having had the 4WD alignment the weekend before, I had to take it for another test run.
I drove it about 200 miles yesterday after getting the tires balanced and rotated I have no more vibration. It was definitely in the balance for me.
Therefore, I now have no dislikes on the BDS Lift itself. I believe the ride on the road is smoother than before, taking a long trip yesterday. My wife even commented that she thought it was and she is quite discerning.

RC 4" lift with N2.0 shocks.
Lift kit is great. Lots if new parts for a great price. To be honest I don't see much difference from stock. It drives great and has plenty of hight for bigger tires. Currently running 33x12.5r15.
The only thing I added to the kit to help my steering was a drop pitman arm and RCN2.0 steering stabilizer.

Likes: First day and only driven on-road about 75 miles. Handles well on the highway at up to 75. Without the Speedometer gear replaced I tested the speedo with my GPS and found the Speedo to be about 5 mph slower than actual so a Speedo Gear replacement will be next. The tires handled well except on some of the worst seams on the highway. Standard seams did not really seem to make a difference. The extra height from the lift and tires (I measured to be 5 3/4" higher than stock tires and suspension) looks great and the underneath clearance is very noticeable. I will update how it acts off-road at a later date but on road highway performance seems to be as good if not smoother than stock.
In town, I hit some bumps that normally would really shake me around quite a bit, and took them in stride. So handling small potholes seems to be better to me. Again, initial thought and I will update after driving over various conditions.
Dis-Likes: I did notice some shimmy between 35-45 but goes away quickly. I would not consider it a death wobble, and it was not consistent. I noticed it twice. I have to really test this more over the next couple of days to make sure there is nothing loose or something needing adjustment.
Recommend? YES. I had this installed by Griffin Tire in Belmont NC and what I really liked was that over several other systems I discussed with them, I ended up going with BDS. The Dealer experience was great and after reading all of the reviews here, the price and the warranty of BDS, I went with them. I am not a serious off-roader, but do take it off-road for fun and some wheeling but not extreme.

Likes: The ride is smother than my stock springs. The added flex took me through several trails in Moab without hanging a tire. I know this sounds a little weird but I also like the color. I have a blue TJ, the last thing I wanted was red or yellow hardware flashing from under the wheel wells, it just isn't my style.
Dis-Likes: I have no complaints at all. With or without my hard top it rides great.
Would You Recommend: Yes, this is a good height, great ride, and completes both the function and style I was looking for in my daily driven rig.

The lift is inexpensive and rides exponentially better than the stock 2000 tj's original springs and rancho es 5000 shocks. i used to hit small bumps and feel my teeth rattle, first ride in, the difference was night and day. the biggest surprize was my g/f noticing how much smoother the ride was. also since i run a hard top and took the top off, im actually over 3 inches of lift. So far pretty impressed with the lift considering the bad rap RC products has gotten.
the kit did not come with a remedy for driveline vibes and I did get some driveline vibes and ended up dropping my t-case about an inch with some 1/2 inch SS washers and 2 inch Grade 8 SS bolts.
So far am pleased with it, took the jeep to South Padre Island and did some wheeling in the dunes no problem. as this is my DD i am not going to go too crazy with it and the lift suits my needs pretty well, will keep everyone posted with any changes.

3 months later Im liking this lift. didn't keep my initial measurements so I don't know how much it settleled, but it doesn't seem to have dropped noticably. It feels softer sprung than before with the stock coils and 2" spacers. However, it doesn't sag much with weight...I weigh 210lbs... when I stand on the front or rear bumper, it drops only 3/4in. When my wife (98lbs) stands on the bumpers, it drops 1/4 inch. As this lift rides 3/4 high in the rear (with heavy 3/8" recover bumpers) a winch up front woud be unikely to make the front drop lower than the rear. I haven't had it off road to the point that I need to use the disconnects, but it's working well. rides soft, but it does hit the bump stops pretty easy if I'm going too fast.

Review: Couldn't be happier. First trip out I was able to easily crawl over areas I normally didn't even try. The shocks seemed rougher than stock at first but after a couple of thousand miles I have no complaints about them. Still has great road manners but now the trails are even more fun. Not a lot of mountains in the south so this lift was perfect for me. I doubt I could find another lift as good for <$500
