2five22 Anything used for legal on-road lighting has to be DOT approved and will be marked as such.

MikeK46 A Rigid 20" LED light bar is supposedly as bright as 8 x 55W halogen bulbs, so you'd be blinding everyone if you used it on the road.

California Drivers with Light Bars

Hi gang,

I would like to know if driving with your light bars on is illegal in California. I am thinking about getting a 20" light bar and mounting it on my front bumper but I would like to run it at night (with my headlights, of course) and I am wondering if this is something that would be considered a violation (blinding other drivers, etc.)

Thank you for the help as always!
