Lusus_Naturae If I needed to go big I would like Shrockworks carrier. I know they take awhile because they make them as ordered, and they are a bit pricey, but made in the US, but I really like the new stubby rear bumper. They hold up to 38" tires and retain the factory hitch but don't swing out with the tailgate. The stubby is the very last photo on the right side.

JKBrad ^^
When I buy, I will go with the Teraflex tailgate reinforcement carrier then pick from any number of bumpers out there. That way, I can still open the tailgate easily and it's a plus to have it beefed up some. Price should even out that way and it's a cleaner look.

However, If I was rock crawling and knew that the weight of the Jeep would be on the spare at times, I would go a different route.

Daniel_M What's your budget? If I were doing it again, I would probably pony up for the Teraflex HD Carrier. It is pricey and IMO looks clean and nearly OEM. Swings with tailgate and is rated for up to 37" I think.

Other than that JCR or ACE would be my 2nd choices.

rfortune Look at ACE. It won't work with the factory tow hitch, but it has one built in if you choose that option.

Removing the factory hitch is a pretty simple job. Just unfasten a few bolts and it drops right off.

Rear Bumper Shopping, Help!

Hi all,

I just bought a set of 315/70/17 Duratracs and argent Pintlers. Anyone have any idea what rear bumpers I should be checking out? Here is my checklist of "wants".

1) Utilizes (and fits OK with) factory hitch
2) Will carry at least a 37" tire, even bigger would be better
3) Would be nice if it swung open with the factory tailgate, but I guess that isn't absolutely mandatory.

I have been looking around a ton but can't seem to find anything that has all 3 of these features. Anyone know of anything that will fit the bill? Cost is no problem, but let's be real -- I am not spending over about $1200.
