New from Colorado

I am looking for some help on repairing my 94 Wrangler engine. Driving it the other day and the engine just stopped running. When I attempt to start it, all the electrical comes on and the engine tries to turn over but nothing. Didn't see any oil/coolant leaks. Right now its at a shop waiting for their estimate on repairs.

I have several good friends in the area who work on their own vehicles and have said I may need to buy a new engine. Wondering what all this will entail? The current engine is a 2.5L (4-cylinder) with 125k miles, everything original except the clutch which I recently replaced myself with help. Replacing the clutch was a great experience that showed me how straight forward this engine is to work on, just time intensive. Any help will be much appreciated!
