Good to hear that you have found a solution! I would second the point about finding a quality (Mopar) replacement part. Heck, you could also buy a used handle and re spray it too.

cedar Yeah the rod is connected with the cotter key. didnt see any kind of a clip but the threaded rod seems to pop into the thin metal bracket and hold pretty good. Just thought that with the door slaming shut over time would move that rod. Thought about putting a hose clamp on it to make sure it dosent move. The handle seems to work fine but the little flapper that is connected to the part of the handle that moves just pops over the L shaped lever. Seems like its not long enough or maybe too much play in it?

I have done this recently to both my doors, so I'll try to help. Does your actual outer door handle itself function as it's supposed too.

The door handle connects to a rod with a hole in it, by means of a washer and tiny cotter pin. Are those still connected?

The threaded rod, is adjustable. I believe it has a metal clip that can be locked onto the rod where ever it works best. But, because you are replacing and unrelated item, you should just put it back to where it was originally. Hope that helps.

UFOtestpilot I don't have a service manual so I can't help. Doesn't the dealer have an exploded view of the assembly, all the parts, and their relationship to each other? I would be mortified if they didn't, and likely wouldn't buy anything from them based on that fact alone.

Good luck.

Outside door handle (Mopar?)

So I bought a handle off of ebay about 2 months ago and its stopped working on me. I took it apart and the rod just pops off of the handle. I tried adjusting the threaded rod and it dosnt seem to help. Was thinking of just spending the extra money and getting one from the stealer. ebay=$20 stealer=$84 for some reason the passenger side at the dealer is $44.

Also does anyone know if that threaded rod is suppose to have a nut on it to hold it in place?
