What would you need to look for?

Timjeep Look at the first two sticky topics in the tire and wheels forum. "Largest tire on stock JK" and "back spacing and wheel size". Great information in there. I was like you, studied these two topics, and it helped me understand. After reading, I went to several local shops, and found out a few did not know as much as the original two posters in these threads. Contact Discount Tire Direct, they are very knowledgable on what fits on Jeeps.

I used the information after reading to make my decision.

I wish I would have ordered my Jeep with the base and tires like you. I wasted money on the 17" rims and tires from Jeep. They lasted 6 months before I ordered new one.

tires/wheels question

Hey, I just bought a 2013 wrangler unlimited sport. It came with the factory tires, P225 75/R16's, on it. Im wanting to get bigger wheels/tires for it and not sure what my options are and what needs to be done. Im thinking about picking up factory Rubicon wheels or just getting some black rims with bigger tires.

Im not sure if I can just buy some 17's or 18's and just throw them on or if I will need to get spacers, change out anything on the transmission or whatnot. Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

TJNewbie I run 33x12.50x15 Duratracs on 15x8" DC2 wheels (3.65" backspacing). they are more stable on the roads and trails than the stock wheels and tires- 5.25" backspacing with 30x9.5x15 BFG T/A KOs. my new wheels/tires weighed very close to the smaller tires and old wheels, so I didn't see the powerloss that many people experience when they go to bigger tires.

WXman I've run both and I prefer 15". It's cheaper and it is more lightweight. MPGs will be better.

dabolt55 It's always said that the 15" tires are a little less expensive, other than that your preference on wheel size...Good luck and don't forget to post pics of what you do...
