This is my next thing to do.

Ya...I think it may have been 12 ga, I usually use larger than what I need when it comes to wire.

|TexasTJ3016||Thanks. The jumper wire gage looks bulky. 12 gage?|

|TexasTJ3016||So to clarify you remove the relay and discard? Then jump it out?|

|LSU_TJ||So the jumper is just one cable with two female connectors and it goes from one male to the other male where the relay used to be?|

|30-284||This might help to locate it better.Remember this is on my 99 so if your jeep is a different year it may be located in a different place.|

|SPDNJOE||Also, check with a test light at the back of the cigarette lighter for power and ground. Any automotive store has the replacement if needed.|

|30-284||Well here is one pic sorry if it is so big. But as you can see I just removed the relay and inserted a jumper and now it is hot all of the time.|
|01-25-2010 06:45 PM|
|30-284||I don't have a pic right now but on my 99 it was under the dash between the steering column and the door post by the 100 wire connector. To keep it hot all of the time i switched a couple if wires on the relay so it has 12v to it all of the time. I have pics at home so if you need to know where or how to do this I will try to post them just let me know.|
|01-25-2010 06:29 PM|
|Bignuke||Ok, can you show me a picture of where the relay is, if possible?|
|01-25-2010 06:19 PM|
Ya but, if the relay is not picking up then there will be no power to the lighter.
|01-25-2010 06:13 PM|
|Bignuke||Oh yeah I tried it with the jeep on.|
|01-25-2010 06:11 PM|
|30-284||You might also check the relays as the power to the lighter is activated by a relay so when the key is off there is no power to the lighter, some kind of protection for kids I think. On my 99 it was under the dash between the steering column and the door post by the 100 wire connector.|

Cigarette lighter replacement?
(sorry for the two posts back-to-back but just getting them off my mind)
My cigarette lighter doesn't work, I changed the fuses and it still won't work..
Question is: Anyone know somewhere I can get a replacement? I saw on jcwhitney: 12-VOLT CIGARETTE LIGHTER - JCWhitney but I don't think that will bolt right in to where the original is..
Anyone have a site?
