|paleh0rse||Considering that you don't plan on any crazy wheeling, be sensible and get a $150 Teraflex leveling kit with the 33" tires of your choice. Hell, you could get 1.5" wheel spacers and just run the new tires on your stock rims until you save up another $600-$700 to buy the aftermarket wheels you want.|

TeraFlex 2.5" Budget Boost with shock extensions for under $400. It's a good start when you are on a budget. Tires can come later but I suggest just wait till you get the ones you want the first time around.
But seriously, If you don't intend on getting 35s don't even bother with a lift. You can run 33x12.50x17 on new wheels with 4.5" BS without a lift.

|jsmithtx||I would do the lift first. Then when you get your allowance get the wheels and tires. You could do spacers after the lift until you get the tires and wheels you want. Thats what I did. Then sold the spacers here.|

|RobSta22||I am in the same boat with my wife here! I have money but she acts as though we could go bankrupt any minute with that being said. I was looking at the 2.5in lift from Rough Country or the .75in leveling kit from the same place. Right now I think I am playing with around 1000 dollars. I actually have the stock wheels on it and I plasti dipped them. I also wont do much offroading if any. If I do it might be at the beach (if you want to count that) or Just in the country in a field somewhere playing around. No climbing or nothing like that. Mainly just for looks.|

I did the lift first...still have my stock tires and wheels. The wife only lets me get away with so much at once. That said, I priced a set of Duratracs in 33x12.5x15 at 190 a tire yesterday, I think.
My take? To go from 255x75 to 265x70: why bother? Unless my stock tires were junk and the tires I went to were much, much better I don't think I'd go with a tire that is more or less the same diameter and slightly wider.
Save for the tires you WANT...plenty of folks on this forum will tell you stories about how they settled/compromised...and ended up buying the tires they wanted eventually anyway.
Oh, and since I was thinking about it today anyway (I spend a lot of time looking at tires, ha!):
255 - 10 inches
265 - roughly 10.5 (10.43) inches
275 - roughly 11 (10.83) inches
285 - roughly 11 (11.22) inches
295 - roughly 11.5 (11.61) inches
305 - 12 inches
315 - roughly 12.5 (12.4) inches
10*1.5+17 = 32 inches (your stock tires)
10.43*1.4+17 = 31.6 inches (basically smaller by a bit)

Lift and Tire Question?
I was thinking about putting 265/70/17 on my Jeep with a 2in lift. I have stock 255/75/17 on them now. I was wondering if the gap between the Tire and Wheel well would look stupid. I am new at this and on a limited budget. I was suggested 285/70/17 but most of the AT tires are 200+ . I found some 265/70/17 for 150.00. Also I have another option of not lifting 2in and just putting a leveling kit on it. Any suggestion would be greatly helpful!!! Thanks in advance.
