Snake_Eyes I bet it is the quality of the MP3's that you're playing from your phone. Compressed digital recordings lack fidelity even at high bit rates and the bass is the first thing to go...to put it plainly, it's the songs on your phone. When you play a CD do you hear the bass normally like when you're listening to the radio?

eboven I bet I know exactly what it is. It's an aftermarket radio, right? When they installed it, they used the power antenna output to power the factory amp's turn on input. Take the radio out and see if the blue or blue/white wire is used coming directly off the aftermarket radio. They should have connected the radio's Blue/white to the jeep's harness, but they probably used the solid blue wire instead. This would only let the factory amp work when the stereo is on the radio source, not AUX or CD or anything else. You can confirm that this is what happened by putting a CD in and seeing if the sub works then, if it doesn't than they hooked it up wrong.

HunterTheBeagle Try a new aux cable they can go bad maybe borrow one from a friend to try. When they do go often times they sound like a lot of treble with no bass. If that does not work it could be the prongs in your aux port that are not making a good connection with the aux cable.

JeepGirl06 Didnt work.

JeepGirl06 No, ill try that and see what I can find.

RayW Some head units have a "source tone memory" which means that bass/treble settings are saved for each source (radio/CD/aux) instead of being universal. If the bass is turned down in the aux mode but level or boosted in radio mode it would give the result you're getting. Have you checked the settings in various input modes?

JeepGirl06 It's an aux port with just a regular aux cable - and I'm using a droid phone and don't know how to check the eq settings on the phone but ill give that a shot.

gpd916 Are you connecting an Ipod to the AUX Port? If so maybe the Ipod has the bass in the EQ setting turned down. just a thought.

Stock subwoofer issue...

So i have the stock subwoofer that came with my jeep.

and you can hear it working and the bass sounds good when its on the radio,
but if i switch it over to the aux port - there's no more bass, its like the subwoofer stops working.

any ideas on what wires got crossed when the new radio got put in??
