No, not at this point. With the ipad above the stock radio it would be too high, and would be a driving hazard. If funds were unlimited I have a great design for a similar mount as the current one, but the ipad would snap in from the front. When removed the stock radio would be accessible. Unfortunately creating custom plastic injection molds are serious money!! I'm just trying to share my personal ipad radio solution with others that are interested ( and make some Jeep mod money in the process).

Olsen185 I was thinking about making a cover made from that silver heat reflective material they use for windshield covers for me, maybe that will work for you too.

2five22 I love the concept, but on the occasional instance that I leave my iPad in my vehicles, the Arizona heat will black out the display until the temperature drops. Pointing the AC ducts isn't a viable solution for a short or medium length drive when temperatures can exceed 150 degrees.

Any other heat dissipation option on the horizon?

Olsen185 I'm pretty excited to say I'm now a supporting member!!!

I make these mounts when my life allows (2 kids and a full time job), but it is usually limited to 5-10 per week. Each mount take about 6 hours or so to make from raw materials. I try my best to keep costs down and keep the mount affordable. If anyone has any questions please let me know.

I was told there is a commercial section of the website where I can post sales information, once I create the thread ill post a link here.

Olsen185 iPad Mini Mount Installation Instructions
2011 to 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Installing the iPad Mini into the mount
  1. Lay mount face down on flat surface
  2. Remove screw from the bottom of the mount
  3. Lift bottom edge of the metal backing plate just enough to insert the iPad Mini
  4. Adjust the iPad's position in the mount
  5. Reinstall the bottom screw

Installing the IPad Mini mount onto the dash
  1. Remove rubber insert from sunglasses holder on top of the dash.
  2. Remove screw found under the rubber insert.
  3. Place mount onto the dash and insert longer provided screw (if using stock radio be careful not to over tighten the screw, it may be possible for the screw to enter the top of the radio)

Things I’ve learned about having an iPad as a head unit
  1. In the summer the iPad can get hot and overheat if left in direct sunlight. Cover the iPad if you plan on parking in a sunny area. If the iPad does overheat just direct the center two air conditioning vents upwards towards the mount and turn the air conditioning on high.
  2. If your iPad is jailbroken, download the app “Activator” from Cydia. Create a custom Activator link to set the iPad to Sleep Mode with a long press of the Home Button. This is needed because the Power Button is not accessible.
  3. If your iPad is not jailbroken, go to Settings>Accessibility>Triple-click and choose the “Assistive Touch” option. With this option selected you can triple click the Home button and a glowing dot will appear on the home screen. When you need to turn off the iPad touch the glowing dot and select “Device” then “Lock Screen”.

Good Apps for an iPad head unit
  1. Dash Command (app that checks vehicle trouble codes, but needs additional hardware)
  2. iHeart Radio
  3. Pandora
  4. Slacker Radio
  5. Alarm Clock HD- Free (great looking clock interface which has adjustable colors to match dash)
  6. Vehicle Clinometer/ Tilt Meter (off-road Jeep tilt meter by Smittybilt, under iPhone apps)

LoveJiuJitsu Wow man, very nice. I want to do the same thing, but want a couple things first. An HD display iPad mini, and a Wrangler. Both are very important to have when trying to implement this mod.

Again, very nice work!

Breyzorback74 Awesome! When do you think they will be up on Ebay? Or are they already?
06-07-2013 08:33 PM
Olsen185 I have one available. I have enough to make another 8 or so. I will probably have to sell them on eBay though due to forum sponser rules. Unfortunately eBay charges redicuously high fees which will have to be passed along.

NeoJeep Another interested party if/when you find the time to produce...........

Olsen185 Just a quick heads up, it looks like the thread is gonna get shut down because I'm not a sponsor. I'm looking into that possibility now

Olsen185 Hey guys just a quick update. My job recently announced a promotional test for the first week of June. All of my time in the past month has gone towards studying. After the test I plan on producing 10 or so mounts (11-13) for everyone that is interested.

After I catch up with the requests ill start looking into the 07-10 mounts again

Breyzorback74 This would be the final touch to my jeep. I love this idea.
