|RUBI 4 MY MRS||I should add that the reason the melting happens (not that uncommon) is thought to be the blower motor, with age & use, wears enough & starts to drag causing the amp load to increase & overheat the wires. A new motor might be a good idea.|

|RUBI 4 MY MRS||If you go to the Morris 4x4 link above & pick '96-'97 & go to the wiring diagrams & to chapter 42 the page that shows the resistor has the resistance of each resistor. They are not shown in any later yrs for some reason.|

Failed HVAC fan part 3 - The saga continues...
OK, I found the fan resistor pack and when I removed it, it was filled with furry debris (think clothes dryer filter). Removed the first clump and the fan came on. I blew out the rest of the junk and reinstalled the pack. OK great right ? An hour later, the fan was dead again. I took the pack out again and noticed that one end of the connector was melted. The connector still unplugs.
I want to use my ohm meter to check the pack. Does anyone know what the readings between the pins should be ? Also, the connector is garbage and I'm thinking of soldering the wires directly on the pack pins or using crimp push on terminals to connect the pack. Seems like a bad situation for a connector and wire insulation to melt.

fan is behind the battery under the computer, it is accesed from the engine side
the resistor is under the dash board behind the glove box

Failed HVAC fan Part 2 (help !) 98 TJ Sport
I'm trying to troubleshoot this dead fan before I pay massive $$$$ for a repair.
I can't locate the fan or the speed control resistor pack. It looks like I may have to remove the entire dash ? If anyone has been through this I would be grateful for any assistance.
