khenderson if you have those little endcaps on, i vote take those off(free). lights(100-150). bumper(200-300). those are my ideas for cheaper mods.

my plans right now are to get the motor broken in..

...and add a few protective pieces, but the wallet is pretty empty. I'm really getting to appreciate the handling and I have a whopping 300 miles on it so far.

Are there any opinions on synthetic oil and adequate break-in period before converting to synthetic?

Also, what is the "best bang for the buck" modification to make this awesome ride even better?

Thanks for the welcomes!!

Have a lot of fun with your new toy!

Tell us what you have planned for the new Jeep?

khenderson congrats on the new addition to your family!! kind of a shame you had to lose the sti to get the rubi(i love that car), but you'll be very happy with your choice. we've got a great group of people here who are incredibly easy going and willing to help with whatever you need. so enjoy the site and don't be shy to ask anything!!

1BLKJP Welcome aboard. Yeah, the Rubicon and the YJ are like black and white. You won't regret it. And if you want to squeeze some more HP out of the I6 just turbo charge it.

thanks for the great welcome..

...I'll definitely have some questions when I get around to working on the Rubicon. I love the handling already compared to my old YJ.

Regards, John

jeeperman Congratulations on getting back into the Jeep thing! You will really like your Rubicon, I know that I love mine! (2003) You will love the ride of your new TJ compared to the YJ, it's the whole coil spring thing. This also makes it an easier vehicle to modify to work well on the trail compared to the YJ. Congratulations again on your new purchase, and make sure you keep us updated on any trips and/or modifications!

hello to all

Just picked up my new '06 Rubicon yesterday after being Jeep-less for the past 9 years. I had a '90 YJ for 6 trouble-free years. It's going to be a bit of a performance shock as I sold my 2004 Subaru STi to buy the Rubicon.

First impressions are really good. The suspension feels a lot different than the YJ's, the power is better, and the 6 speed manual feels smooth. The 2 top option is really nice and the stereo is pretty impressive too. I think I made a great choice.

This looks like a great site and a really good resource for tech questions.

Here's hoping to make some friends and learning how to make this awesome ride even better.
