mcsjk2008 I figured out what it was... While I had checked the radio fuse, I had failed to check the amp fuse because since I don't have the Infinity system I assumed that not only did I not have an amp, but I also did not have an amp fuse. I was incorrect, got it replaced and everything is running great now.

Thank you everybody for your help and time spent answering my numerous questions.

mcsjk2008 @derfC I will try that, I took the fuse out to check it but it was fine so I just put it back in without retrying the radio.

@panthermark I do not have the premium system in mine.

Thank you everybody for your help so far. I am still attempting to get it to work but your advice is much better than what I had in mind

derfC Had something similar happen when I installed a Pioneer HU in my '10. Got it all installed & everything was working, buttoned up the console, jumped in the Jeep to take the wife to dinner, & nada... no power to the radio.

I opened the hood, located the radio fuse, pulled it, waited a few seconds, & re-inserted it. Everything was fine afterwards and the radio has functioned perfectly ever since (and has for over a year now).

panthermark Do you have the premium system? If so, there is a fuse for the amp as well...and that will cut power to the HU (ask me how I know). Both the radio fuse and amp fuse are in the standard fuse box under the hood.

xcoaste If you can't locate the correct fuse on the Jeep, just start pulling them all out and see if any are bad. This used to happen in my TJ all the time. It doesn't take much for the fuse to go when screwing around behind the dash, in my case anyway!

mcsjk2008 @Binx what do you mean did I pull out the switched ignition wire?

mcsjk2008 Fuse on the head unit is good, as is the amp fuse. I will check the radio fuse when I get back to my car. I am not sure how there could be a pinched wire because the wires are all bundled up and packed together like they came with the car. Any other ideas?

xcoaste Also check the fuse on the head unit if there is one, and the amp.

mcsjk2008 Which fuse is the radio fuse? I have pulled up a diagram of the fuse box but it did not indicate which one was radio fuse... Also, in the event that that is the case. That is a fairly cheap and easy fix right?

Sorry for all of the probably obvious questions... New Jeeper here.

Binx Did you pull out the switched ignition wire.

Duramaxxed Check your Radio Fuse. You may have Pinched a Wire when you were Pushing the Radio Into the Dash.

Head Unit Replacement Problems

Hi, last night I attempted to install a Pioneer AVH-X4500BT head unit into my 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I am using the PAC adapter. Everything was going well, I had gotten the metal bracket out, I had plugged everything up and I tested it. The head unit kicked on as well as the amp that I installed. I started to put the head unit into place but it wasn't fitting right so I pulled it out and decided I should test it again. The second time it nor the amplifier would turn on.

This morning I took off the PAC and attached the stock adapter to the stock head unit and there was still no power. Which makes me think that there is an electrical problem inside the car, not with the head unit or PAC.

Any help will be greatly appreciated and as soon as possible, I am kind of freaking out about the thought of having to pay someone to trace the wires and find which one is busted.

Thank you
