anything to save money will help???
you'll just have to pony up the cash for the brackets, but by "special" they really mean Torx. you can go to the hardware store and get a screw to fit the bracket once you get it, Torx or otherwise.

05GT-O.C.D. Sorry bro, I missed your post #16 - I thought you were still talking about the door surrounds. Good luck.

MATT35 i know how it goes on i just dont have the pieces that stick thru the roll bar padding that bolt on the roll bar...... does anybody know what these pieces are called

05GT-O.C.D. +1

Yeah, once you have it in your hands and near the Jeep it becomes self explanatory. The door surrounds will be the easiest part, so simple a caveman could do it.

KellyK once its folded out it will slap you in the face where they go.

MATT35 i found a OEM soft top on craigslist with door surrounds. its black with the tinted windows....... the guy put it on his wifes Jeep and she didn't like it because of security issues at the mall he had it on the jeep for about a week...... long story short i bought it for $400 and it is practically new.... i plan on putting it on tomorrow hopefully i can figure it out im not sure that i know where the poles hook up at inside..... does anybody have pics on where it bolts up at inside.... thanks

KellyK The only thing i didnt get is the surrounds. i guess im on the hunt for some of those from an 06
02-09-2009 01:14 AM
sean42069 should fit fine, they changed a couple things, but as long as you're installing all the hardware together you should be fine.
i know they changed the rollbar bracket, and tailgate bar at somepoint, ive heard about the header bar but i couldnt confirm that one.
so long as all your parts are from an 06 it should fit just fine.
02-08-2009 11:10 PM
KellyK i heard that soft tops will only fit 97-03 and 04-06 they change something? I ask because i got a brand new OEM 06 soft top and i have a 99
02-08-2009 09:31 PM
Jiffydarren I got my soft top from a salvage yard for 75 bucks. Its not in "new" shape, but it keeps the cold out!
02-08-2009 01:12 PM
KellyK well i guess im gonna have to get a set also if i wanna run my soft top. I will wait till you get yours so we arent bidding up the price against
02-08-2009 12:39 PM
MATT35 yeah i didn't think that there was they looked the same thanks
02-08-2009 12:35 PM
05GT-O.C.D. I'm not aware of any difference at all.
02-08-2009 12:17 PM
MATT35 hey i found a lot on ebay but the best pair that i could find is sahara edition...... im pretty sure that will not matter but i just wanted make sure????
02-06-2009 12:24 PM
MATT35 sweet thanks guys
02-06-2009 02:13 AM
flattietj yeah those door surrounds are one of the big advantages of the tj soft top......other than not having all of thos annoying snaps
02-06-2009 02:10 AM
sean42069 you'll need the surrounds for the soft top anyway.
without them you may as well have a safari top.
you cant seal the side widows or top to door without them.
02-05-2009 10:44 PM
KellyK i was wondering about this myself. Have a hardtop with full doors. and i picked up a OEM 06 softy with harware but wasnt sure if i needed the surrounds.
02-05-2009 09:06 PM
sean42069 get a O.E.M. top,
look on craigslist, i just bought a softtop with hardware for 150 bucks

02-05-2009 01:54 PM
05GT-O.C.D. They're all over ebay. Door surrounds. Yes, you'll need them.

Edit: Just checked, not as many on there as there used to be... maybe because it's winter.

Anywho - for your viewing pleasure:

Make sure you get the knobs.

hard top doors with soft top

i recently looked about buying a soft top for my jeep. but i had a question about my doors. will the soft top would fit on my hard top doors?? i have saw jeep with soft tops with hard top doors they have a little black plastic piece all the way around the top of the doors..... the guy at the 4 wheel parts store said that he didn't know the name of it and he couldn't order them. can anybody tell me what they are called or even better where i can find them.
