do a lot of research before you just start buying some things. it will save you money in the long run. as KG_Strummer stated, searching on here will result in a lot of reading. but there is plenty of info on here to get you to your best decision.

Buzzoff Yes, it sounds like you did well. I bought my 2000 last September for $8300 with 80k miles and was happy with the price.

Mello Mike Wow, you got a great deal! Here in the AZ you can't find a stock, low mileage, clean TJ with <75k miles for less than $10k. For the later TJs, 2004-2006, the prices often run upwards around $13-14k.

AZ is Jeep country. It seems like 1 out of 10 vehicles on the road are Jeeps. You see them everywhere.

MarkGLHS yeah anytime you can snag an unrusted low-miles TJ at or below NADA/KBB you did well so nice going.

i like the upgrade to the Rubicon wheels....i see it has a camel-colored roll bar covering, i thought only the Sahara got the camel-colored roll bar covering....my brochure says on a Sport with camel seats the roll bar covering is still black. Maybe model year 2000 was different?

test the 4WD system before you change all the driveline fluids. I took mine to the local Jeep dealer and for $200 they changed all the driveline fluids (axles, transmission, xfer case) plus the engine oil, all using the correct OEM-stuff plus did a full front to back inspection of all the systems...so for that price you are set for another 40,000 miles on the driveline stuff.

duke1234 Thanks for all the good advice. I have to drive the Jeep from NYC to St. Louis in a few days. Hope she makes it with no problems. It should be a terrible ride hahaha

Yep! (sorry, was away from the PC for a bit).
Also, run down to your favorite parts place & have the alternator & battery tested. It's always better to find out the battery is shot BEFORE it strands you most places will test them for free.

Southerner I'm gonna go off on a limb here and guess that it has been offroaded. (No milk Jugs, and the door looks like it's a different shade) You might want to just climb under it and see whats worn. I had to change my sway bar and shocks when I bought mine.

jlapoint01 Also want to change the fluid in the axles, transmission, and transfer case, also test the coolant. These are the things I changed since I did not have a service history.

duke1234 Thanks for that information. I had no idea those were Rubicon wheels. I notice they were not stock when the spare wheel was smaller and different. I may get them powder coated. A friend of mines does it as a hobby.

TJDave Very nice looking Jeep. Someone bought Rubicon wheels for it too. I would leave those on there.

getalildirty Believe those are mickey thompson rims and they are on procomp 33s. Both of which are expensive.. Youll also need a lift to fit that setup, Yeah gunna need a good 2 grand to get anything like that.

Those look like 33's. Do you plan to off road it? What kind of offroading (if yes)?
If you're not going to be very rough on it, you could get away with a cheap lift ~2", and squeeze in a set of 33's.
If you plan on using your Jeep for the rough trails / rocks, you might want to consider a good 3" lift, which starts to get in the high$$$ category.
Then you'll start thinking about tummy tuck, SYE, and a dozen other "little" upgrades LoL

Either way including wheels and tires, id say $2,000 give or take.

Depends on which lift you want. Could range from $700 to $3500. Do a search on lifts (looks like a 2.5" lift) and you'll be presented with a lot of options (and opinions).

I have a 2001 Tj 4.0 5spd, and I only get part time light for hi and low... Its normal.

Find some dirt and shift it into 4wd and 4lo, both should have been checked on test drive

If everything works yes you got a good deal

Hey guys

I just got my 1st Jeep. It is a 2000 Wrangler Sport V6 with 67k miles. It is an automatic. Hardtop with fog lights and 255/70/16 tires and Jeep rims. I paid $6900 for it. Carfax was clean with no accidents.

I already put led dash lights mod, new stereo, new speaker upgrades, and did an alignment in the 2 weeks I have had it. I have not had a chance to test the 4wd since my light for it is not on. I did a dash check and the "part-time" light never came on. maybe bulb?
