|wtrwkr||I waited about 20 hours before starting the Jeep. It fired up within 3 or so seconds. This time it sat longer than it did between Thursday and Friday. Other than being warmer today than yesterday nothing seems different. Thoughts?|

First, to verify what is the usual fix for this problem, try this before your first start of the morning or after it has been sitting a while... turn the ignition switch on-off-on 4-5 times to let the fuel pump work a few extra times. If the engine starts up right away after that, your fuel pressure regulator is leaking & allowing fuel to drain out of the engine & back to the gas tank. The long start time is how long it takes the fuel pump to get fuel back up to the engine.
The fix is to replace the fuel pressure regulator that sits on top of the fuel pump, on the top of the gas tank. These photos show it being replaced. Once you get the gas tank dropped, it only takes a minute or two to swap it... it is only held in by that spring-steel clip that you pop free with a screwdriver.

Hard Start (long crank before start)
Sometimes in the morning my 2000 TJ 6 cyl cranks a little longer than I think it should. Lately here in Phoenix it's been a bit cooler than normal and the last few starts where a little longer than normal. Today it started and idled a bit rough for 10 or so seconds and ran/started just fine after that. Along with that the check engine light came on and since has went off. I read this post by Harryjeepguy on a different thread and wanted to start a new one since that thread was going down a whole different path.
