DevilDogDoc Thats how mine was before I got my new bumper, used one hole that was there and drilled the other..

thanks, ill keep that in mind. but I rarely ever wheel where clearance is an issue, most of mine is done on forest service roads or in snow. I appreciate the input greatly, just don't feel like drilling another hole in each side at the moment unless I have too.

sevenservices I had 2 GM hooks on the back, just under the bumper on the bumper mounts of the YJ. It only took two times of me climbing a hill on an angle and having them dig into the ground and I took them off. Scared the crap out of me the first time I rode up the front left onto a ridge and the right rear hook dug into the trail. Pinged through the frame like I broke an axle or something!

tallzdatank thanks. if they become an issue hanging up, or bow the frame I'll move them up there, but for now I think 3 grade 8s should hold it together.

rear tow hooks.

got some universal tow hooks to bolt on the rear, found I had only one pre drilled hole for them back there, the bumper mount. so I drilled and tapped one more on the frame and did a bolt and nut on the small strip of steel on the bottom of my bumper. how did anybody else do it? I know that might not be the best place to put it.
