Good news is I'm back riding, just a lot slower now.

Take it easy and have a quick recovery!
Damn!

Nothing to be ashamed of. 1st part of August and I'd be riding the exact same way with the same helmet.

As far as the woman, almost seems like misfortune follows her and her family and you and your family became victims.

Tweak HOLY CRAP!

we had a guy not show up for work, it wasnt like him. he was riding with a group late at night and somebody was driving the wrong way on a highway off ramp. she was pretty much trying to get on the wrong side of the 163 while he was trying to exit. he ended up going over her car and slammed into a guardrail breaking his hand and femur.

driving in california taught me to look twice and listen for a bike.

i wish you a speedy recovery!

Strange246 Well I will say I'm ashamed to admit I was in a t-shirt and jeans, and a $30 half helmet, the helmet though not DOT approved saved my life, it looked like it was slammed by a sledgehammer...Even though I was in a t-shirt all I got on my upper body was roadrash on both arms, my forehead slammed into the top edge of my windshield and split open, slicing all the nerves and muscles in my forehead, 29 stitches to close it up, still have partial paralysis in my facial muscles....She was 73 and taking her daughter to a methadone clinic, reportedly the daughter was screaming at her and made her nervous...She's on Section 8 and owns nothing, her insurance policy was nothing to write home about either, thankfully her policy and my underinsured was enough to pay off all our bills, loans etc, allowed my wife to not work for 3 months to care for me, and bought me a new Harley Trike, but wont cover the year plus of physical therapy etc...Final count was 7 broken bones including my left femur broke in half and came out my inner thigh, my fibula snapped, heel bone fractured, foot broken in 4 places, my big toe was dislocated and broken, the forehead injury, and I flatlined in the ambulance, a week in the ICU, 3 weeks in the regular hospital room, atleast 18 months of physical therapy...all in all not fun....

In my case I was doing 75-80mph in a group on the highway in Illinois on the way to Sturgis for bike week, as we came over a small hill, a 73 year old woman had missed her exit and stopped in the fast lane to back up and take the cut across the median to go back, I swerved hard to the right to go around her and then she backed up into my path...
What a dumbass! I guess some jackasses are just too damned impatient to just do the right thing and get off at the next exit and backtrack. Risking someone else's life or my own just isn't worth the lost time it takes.

Glad you're okay and glad you had fun offroad. These vehicles really will go almost anywhere...

Good luck man. As a long time rider myself, something like that is my worst nightmare. While many times there is a story behind why someone does something really stupid, I still hope you end up owning just about everything she owns or will ever own. I'm cutting her some slack by saying "just about everything she owns" instead of everything she owns.

Bummer man.... What the heck is wrong with some people?
Hopefully you were geared up.

Glad you are doing better....

Took the JKU Offroad Today

It was almost too easy, basically a rough fire road out to where I go target shooting today, 4 inches of snow, a few steep inclines, some loose rocks and some ice....The Duratracs didnt miss a beat and my wife was amazed how smooth the JKU rode over the bumps...Loved how much more effortlessly it did it than her TJ
